[name]Hi[/name]! I voted for Amund [name]Theodor[/name] [name]Johnson[/name]. I love a longer middle!
Is Amund pronounced [name]Ah[/name]-mund, AY (long A)-mund, or Am (like the word “am”)-mund? And how cool that it’s close to [name]Raymond[/name], too!
Take care!
We are thinking [name]Long[/name] A - Ay-mund. Sounds like [name]Raymond[/name] that way. Thanks for your input!
Amund is such a cool name! It’s very different, but its sound is familiar and accepted; it’s a perfect balance and a great choice, especially how it subtly honors your father. I’m surprised that I like it so much, actually.
I voted for Amund [name]Thomas[/name]. I think it’s important to offset Amund with a very traditional middle–it makes for a dashingly handsome combo.
I [name]LOVE[/name] Amund!! As noted on another thread, Amund is my all-time favorite Norwegian boys’ name. Great choice!!
I like Amund [name]Theodor[/name] best, followed by Amund [name]Frederik[/name], and then Amund [name]Thor[/name].
As for [name]Thomas[/name], it’s a fine name, but I am not as fond of of that combination due to the identical vowel sound in [name]Thomas[/name] and [name]Johnson[/name].
Amund is comprised of familiar components – yet the combination is very fresh and handsome – perfect to go with [name]Johnson[/name]!! I think you found the perfect boy name!
You must update us once the little one arrives!!
Thanks Everwaiteing, Right now we are leaning toward [name]Theodor[/name] which has so many nn options, and [name]Thomas[/name]. [name]Thomas[/name] is in my Wife’s father’s side, and I was a big Magnum P.I. fan back in the day
We are due in [name]October[/name] so we’ll see how many more times I flip-flop before then. We are also going to Norway for the first time in [name]June[/name] so we might find other names we like while there. But for now we’re solid on ‘Amund’. Our girl choice is ‘[name]Elena[/name] [name]Marit[/name]’.
Amund is an awesome name! I love it! I voted for Amund [name]Thor[/name], mostly because I love [name]Thor[/name], but [name]Theodore[/name] is probably the best sounding to my ears! Wonderful!
I can’t remember – are you planning on finding out the gender beforehand?
I also love [name]Elena[/name] [name]Marit[/name] for the record! ![]()
Aymund with the long “a” sound is very cool. [name]Love[/name] it. [name]Theodor[/name] without the “e” is cool, too! [name]Love[/name] [name]Frederick[/name], can’t remember the Scandinavian spelling. [name]Love[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] - one of my very favorites. [name]Theodore[/name] is also one of my favorites, so I love [name]Theodor[/name], too.

Yes, we can’t wait to find out the gender!! Probably another six weeks or so. We’ll let you know when we find out.
I didn’t vote on any of the options, they’re all lovely ![]()
I did however add Amund’s Norwegian pronunciation to Forvo.com for you so you can hear how it would be pronounced in Norway ![]()
Amund pronunciation: How to pronounce Amund in Norwegian
I babysit a little 2 year old named Amund and he is the cutest boy ever and one of my favourite friends, so I have nothing but good things to say about the name. I also prefer it over [name]Thor[/name] since [name]Thor[/name] is a burly macho man to me for some reason. Same with [name]Odin[/name], [name]Zeus[/name] and such as well, but I guess it’s to be expected to some extent ![]()
[name]EDIT[/name]: I just saw Amund [name]Henrik[/name] was an option on the poll so I voted for that! [name]Henrik[/name] [name]Ibsen[/name] is a fantastic namesake, and [name]Henrik[/name] is an awesome name! ^^
Very cool Dearest! Thanks for doing that for us. Thought we’d have to wait until our Norway trip to hear the true pn. ![]()
Oh, that is so cool to find out how Amund is pronounced!!
*** Dearest, I am posting a request on Talk About Names forum for additional Norwegian name pronunciations, if you don’t mind.
