Bad Name Hunting: Utah Top 1000 of 2020

DISCLAIMER: This is all in good fun, I will try not to talk religion and politics here, and if I offended you, I apologize in advance.

So NB recently dropped state top 1000s, and despite not being American myself, I do know that names from Utah are… Something namenerds like us enjoy poking fun at sometimes. So I decided to take a deep dive into the Utah list and here are the most unexpected names I found:

158 Scottie (g)
360 Leonel (more Hunger Games fans than I expected ig)
367 Atreus (reminds me of a certain body part…)
418 Kaladin (Paladin with a K?)
421 Linkin (Lincoln?)
472 Daleyza
484 Gwenyth (and to make matters worse, 485 is Gwyneth :woman_facepalming:)
568 Swayze (g)
605 Huntley (g)
607 Brexton/Iyla (what about Braxton and Isla?)
644 Paityn (not the first time I’ve seen this but it GETS ON MY NERVES)
696 Fernanda
701 Evander (:tada:)
723 Leviathan
724 Kollins (g)
729 Moises (730 is Moses)
737-748 all boys start with R, all girls start with M (just thought it’d be fun to point out)
775 Swayzie
…and this was when I realized that that we got cheated and this wasn’t a top 1000 list after all :expressionless:

This state never fails to amaze me :rofl:
Thoughts? Any other interesting names from this/other lists?

What an unusual collection. Lots of names, and spellings of names, I’d never seen before so a very interesting read.

Some of these are actually rather cool.

Leonel - Love it. It’s the Spanish form of Lionel, so definitely not all HG fans
Atreus - Love it. Also not sure which body part you’re referring too, but that’s probably just me :sweat_smile: (I’m not a native English speaker)
Linkin - Don’t like it, but probably influenced by Linkin Park?
Fernanda - such an underrated name
Moises - this is the Greek form of Moses, not sure why you would think this is bad?

Most of these don’t seem all that bad to me.

I had no idea about [name_m]Leonel[/name_m] and [name_m]Moises[/name_m]! [name_f]Fernanda[/name_f] is just nms I think. I also made the [name_m]Linkin[/name_m] [name_u]Park[/name_u] connection but I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that it’s a spelling variation of [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u], I just didn’t think it’d be that popular (but then again [name_u]Utah[/name_u] soo)

[name_m]Kaladin[/name_m] is from a fantasy book series (Stormlight Archives) by [name_m]Brandon[/name_m] [name_m]Sanderson[/name_m] (author who I believe lives in Utah).
