[name]Hi[/name] all, have finally signed up here after months of lurking, in the hopes of getting some suggestions. We’re expecting No. 3 next month, we have a girls name sorted ([name]Camille[/name]). We have a daughter and a son already, both have Irish (Gaelic) names, phonetically our daughter’s name sounds like Shu-en and our boy is [name]Conall[/name], which we pronounce Kun-el
We’ve decided we don’t want a third Gaelic name. We have a list of names we’d settle for but none we love apart from [name]Nathaniel[/name] but we both feel its a bit long and would be shortened and neither of us are crazy about the shortened versions/nn in particular, we both really dislike [name]Nat[/name] so I think that rules out [name]Nathaniel[/name], sadly.
Other names on our (or sometimes just my!) list include:
[name]Lucien[/name] (not good with our surname)
[name]Matthias[/name] (husband doesn’t like)
[name]Lewis[/name] (we don’t like [name]Louie[/name] or [name]Lou[/name])
[name]Jonah[/name] (i like it well enough but not crazy about it)
[name]Emil[/name] (really like this but husband not crazy about it)
[name]Oliver[/name] (husband has vetoed it)
We’re considering [name]Caleb[/name] at the moment but its quite popular where we are so I think that might turn me off it. I don’t want a name that’s way out there but equally I don’t want him to be one of three in his class with the same name.
I love [name]Nathaniel[/name] with no nickname, but if I had to use a nickname, I’d use [name]Nate[/name], [name]Niel[/name], or [name]Thane[/name] (my husband suggested this one). I dislike [name]Nat[/name] too.
[name]Oliver[/name], [name]Lucien[/name], and [name]Lewis[/name] are my favorite from your list, too bad about the problems with them!
Here are some more ideas.
