Baker

I saw on my News Feed yesterday that one of my old high school peers named her son, [name_m]Baker[/name_m] [name_m]Steven[/name_m]. Their last name is pronounced Bot-ger. I have never heard of [name_m]Baker[/name_m] being used as a first name. And no, her maiden name isn’t [name_m]Baker[/name_m].

Thoughts?

I wouldn’t bat an eyelid at a boy named [name_m]Baker[/name_m] since occupational names and surname names are quite the norm for boys now.
I did hear of a girl named [name_m]Baker[/name_m] which shocked me! It turns out it was her surname that people called her as a nickname, but I always saw it as being her name. So it grew on me!

I’ve never personally heard of [name_m]Baker[/name_m], but like pp said, so many other occupational surnames out there, I don’t find [name_m]Baker[/name_m] strange. I also think it could be from further out on the family tree, even if it is not mom’s maiden name.
