Ballet Names - Thoughts and opinions please!

I’ve been majorly procrastinating writing a term paper by watching various ballets instead and have re-discovered two names that I’d love some opinions on!

[name_f]Giselle[/name_f] - I’ve been obsessed with this ballet since I was a child and performed it twice with my company when I was younger. What do you all think? Too [name_f]Gisele[/name_f] Bundchen? Is it usable?

[name_f]Odette[/name_f] - The name of the White [name_f]Swan[/name_f] in [name_f]Swan[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] (counterpart to [name_m]Black[/name_m] [name_f]Swan[/name_f] [name_f]Odile[/name_f] –> Oh-[name_f]Deal[/name_f]). An absolute classic ballet, and anyone in the dance world would immediately get the reference. With that being said, is it too out there to ever be used?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] and [name_f]Odette[/name_f] go nicely as a sib-set? I kinda think they could work??? Both two syllables, similar but not matching endings, and two characters from two of the most well known ballets!

FYI: I love [name_f]Clara[/name_f] too (Nutcracker) and have always thought of using it to honor my great-grandmother whose name was [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. Would it fit nicely into the mix?

Thanks in advance!!!

These names are stunning! I love [name_f]Giselle[/name_f], and [name_f]Odette[/name_f] is absolutely beautiful as well. They go super well as a sibset, and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is a lovely addition!

[name_f]Giselle[/name_f], [name_f]Odette[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] are stunning together, even without the ballet ties, they have a similar feminine but sturdy feel. They’re all definitely usable and even if they are a bit much for you personally, they can have normal nicknames like [name_f]Ella[/name_f]/[name_f]Elle[/name_f]/[name_u]Issy[/name_u], [name_f]Etta[/name_f]/Ditty and [name_f]Lara[/name_f]/ [name_u]Ari[/name_u]

Thank you both! [name_f]Glad[/name_f] to hear that others like the names as well!!

[name_f]Lovely[/name_f] names. Completely usable alone or as sisters. Side note: my favorite ballet name is [name_f]Swanhilda[/name_f]. Probably not as usable haha.

I love [name_f]Giselle[/name_f]! I definitely think it is usable, along with [name_f]Odette[/name_f]. They make a lovely sibset. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is beautiful as well but somehow I don’t think it fits in quite as well with [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] and [name_f]Odette[/name_f].

[name_f]Giselle[/name_f] and [name_f]Odette[/name_f] were made to be sisters! Great names - very sophisticated but also funky, and familiar but extremely underused. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is a little more common but still sounds lovely with the others. What a nice place to find inspiration!

I love [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Odette[/name_f]. Not a fan of [name_f]Giselle[/name_f].

Honestly, I love them all! [name_f]Giselle[/name_f], [name_f]Odette[/name_f], and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] would all go nicely together as a sibset in my opinion, or you could use some combination of them for a first and middle, like [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f]

I think they’d make a great sibset! That said, I would immediately think “oh, the parents were really into ballet” even if you hadn’t mentioned it. I actually think that that’s pretty cool, though!

[name_f]Clara[/name_f] is definitely usable, [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] is slightly braver but still usable, and [name_f]Odette[/name_f] is very brave but could also work. I think that [name_f]Odette[/name_f] wouldn’t be strange at all if she was the third sister in the sibset, if that makes sense. I’d love to meet three sisters with these names!

I second what @classicbookworm said! [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is normal, [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] stands out, [name_f]Odette[/name_f] is brave & anyone using [name_f]Odette[/name_f] or [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] I would think BALLET! I’ll suggest [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] as two more gorgeous ballet names (although [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] shares the ending sound of [name_f]Odette[/name_f]).

I think they’re beautiful too  we considered [name_f]Odette[/name_f] because it’s so lovely but because our lifestyle is about getting out of debt and being against it, all I hear is owe-debt now :frowning:

These are lovely! [name_f]Giselle[/name_f], [name_f]Odette[/name_f], & [name_f]Clara[/name_f] are beautiful. I’ve thought a lot about ballet names in general and that’s what initially drew me to [name_f]Odette[/name_f] (one of my favorites currently). [name_f]Odette[/name_f] is def. more uncommon and less used but I wouldn’t say it’s too unusual or out there but I may be biased, Lol.
