Banksy, Wilder, Heist, Fenway

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries!

As you can probably tell from the title - I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] weird/unusual/thing/verb names.

I’m not looking for any negative remarks because the names I like are the names I like, period.

However, I am looking for MORE ideas!
It’s hard to search for “different” names when people’s idea of different is relative.

I am not basic whatsoever and won’t name my child something that a million people already are called so please keep that in mind.

These are on my current list:
Banksy
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m]
Fenway
Heist
Savvy
Rage
[name_m]Fielder[/name_m]
[name_m]Decker[/name_m]
Bloom
Beckam
[name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_m]Ledger[/name_m]
Boldt
[name_m]Calloway[/name_m]
Krue
[name_u]Scout[/name_u]
Swaizy
Sway
Brighty
[name_m]Bowen[/name_m]
Lakely
[name_m]Major[/name_m]

These are just for boys, right?

[name_u]Roux[/name_u]
[name_m]Eero[/name_m]
[name_m]Cosmo[/name_m]
[name_m]Harlon[/name_m]
[name_m]Cort[/name_m]
[name_u]Hollis[/name_u]
[name_m]Essex[/name_m]
[name_m]Harp[/name_m]
[name_m]Sherlock[/name_m]

No. pretty much all of those I would use for boys and girls.

Okay, well that makes a bit more difficult to offer suggestions because I can’t imagine a girl with any of those names besides perhaps Savvy (as a nn for [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]) or [name_u]Scout[/name_u].

[name_u]Laiken[/name_u]
[name_u]Blakely[/name_u]
[name_u]Sterling[/name_u]
[name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]
[name_u]Darcy[/name_u]

FWIW, there are plenty of classic names that aren’t popularly used but are still familiar.
[name_f]Winona[/name_f], [name_u]Everly[/name_u], [name_f]Athena[/name_f], [name_f]Odessa[/name_f], [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_f]Pandora[/name_f], [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]
[name_m]Archer[/name_m], [name_m]Cassius[/name_m], [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u], [name_m]Burke[/name_m], [name_m]Abram[/name_m], [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m], [name_u]Leighton[/name_u]

And that’s fine; I am not seeking approval. However I [name_m]WILL[/name_m] name my daughters banksy and wilder no doubt about it. I am asking for suggestions because It never hurts to have more names in my arsenal.

I am not concerned with opinions on whether or not people think it has to be for a girl or boy because that’s silly and outdated.

Thank you for your input.

I know someone who named her two girls Gybson and [name_m]Bowie[/name_m]. She also wanted very unique and rare names that were ‘one-of-a-kind’.
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m] makes me think of [name_m]Little[/name_m] House on the [name_u]Prairie[/name_u] because of [name_f]Laura[/name_f] Ingalls [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]-- and I think that’s very cute for a little girl

Thank you! <3

I know you asked for no negative comments, but Banksy is heavily tied to the outlandish mysterious graffiti artist who recently opened an edgy “alternative” carnival ride. The name has become a meme.

And I would love to hear your reasoning behind liking the “name” Rage?

It’s difficult to offer suggestions for both genders when your list is comprised of only words and historically and etymologically masculine names. You didn’t provide much information to go on in regards to gender. You may think it’s an archaic custom, but on a naming forum you have to expect people to ask.

I know who Banksy is.

P.S. I don’t have to have a reason to like a name - I’m not tied to meanings.

I.e. Why would someone name their kid [name_m]Dick[/name_m]? Who knows.

“I am not basic whatsoever”…

I’m curious as to why it honestly matters the names I give my children? Are you gonna come to the hospital and not allow me to use it because 1. You don’t think it’s a name or 2. It’s for the “wrong gender” At least they won’t have old lady names :joy: Get real people.

And… what’s your point?

I would never recommend [name_m]Dick[/name_m] as a name. If suggestions don’t matter and input doesn’t matter then why does this forum even exist?
Besides, dick was a nickname for [name_m]Richard[/name_m] well before it was a crude slang word. And guess what? Now no one uses it because it has an awful connection.

You clearly have no understanding of etymologies or origins of nicknames and evolvement of the English language.

So you’d rather name your son or daughter “Rage” (As in anger and violent rage) but you say at least they won’t have “old lady names”?
Is that your only argument? Would you relish being called “Rage” everyday? To have to put Rage on resumes, on wedding invitations, on business cards…

This type of thinking comes across as immature and especially inconsiderate of the future impact your name choices could have on your children. Yes names can affect your quality of life, whether you accept that or not. [name_m]Just[/name_m] because someone likes the sounds of Terror, Treason, Morose, and Tyranny doesn’t mean they will make for good names. It is one thing to give a book character a shocking name. It is another to burden a child with an embarrassing word name that means nothing but terrible things.

[name_f]Lux[/name_f]
[name_u]Winter[/name_u]
[name_f]Saga[/name_f]
[name_f]Vita[/name_f]
[name_u]Lake[/name_u]
Heart
[name_m]Sol[/name_m]
[name_m]Iver[/name_m]
[name_f]Vilja[/name_f]
After

It’s “immature” that your worried about what I name my child. You literally aren’t the dictator of names and people don’t have to run it by you before they choose one :joy: Get a life lady!!

Are you serious @roseofjune ??? You really need to leave her alone. She can name her kid whatever the F she wants! You need to get off the computer and relax. Have you ever heard of all the rage?? Not that she owes YOU any explanation for the name choice, who do you think you are? Your name choices would be more embarassing then Rage ever could be. Pretty sure a 5 year old doesn’t want a shitty 60 year old name.
Cashbearboo I think Rage is so cute!

Let’s see…for girls:
[name_f]Clover[/name_f]
Nutmeg

Boys:
[name_u]Grove[/name_u]
[name_m]Warner[/name_m]

TBH, I’m kind of proud of you for considering using bold choices

Trolls. Trolls everywhere.

Wow. I was never this rude to you. I’m sorry. I’m really shocked you guys would devolve into literally swearing at me for giving my honest opinion that Rage isn’t the best thing to give a child. It’s what we do here. It’s a baby name forum.
