[name_m]Hi[/name_m],
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think the name [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] is usable? I know that many people like ‘old man’ type names but is [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] too much? We’ve decided not to find out the gender until the baby is born so we might not even be able to use it, but is it usable if we can? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like it?
There is a trend of using old and vintage names for babies.
It is definitely usable
I really like this vintage name
I like [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m]! I knew one once and it suited him perfectly!
I like [name_m]Bartleby[/name_m] a bit more but yeah they’re usable old man names.
I do like it, my husband decidedly likes it but not for a child… So I think people really go one way or another on this one. [name_u]Barry[/name_u], [name_m]Ben[/name_m], [name_m]Abe[/name_m] are probably preferable nns to [name_m]Barnie[/name_m] as I think when people dislike [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] it’s because they dislike this nn.
I think [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] is adorable! It has such a sweet, kind feel, but is also masculine & handsome. Certainly unique too, but not too difficult to spell or say. You could also do the nn [name_m]Barnes[/name_m], if you want something a little safer.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
I love [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m]! It’s very charming and handsome imo, yet playful.
I think it suits kids really well, and would age gracefully.
[name_m]Barnes[/name_m] is a nice idea for a nn!
I think it is usable and very interesting!!!
One of my favourites! I think [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] is a brilliant name, it sounds wise and friendly, yet has strength and weight to it. I really quite like the nn [name_m]Barny[/name_m], but also find [name_m]Barnes[/name_m] pretty striking!
I adore [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m]! It’s so usable I think!
I love [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] and definitely consider it to be useable. I would go straight up and just call him [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] without a nickname. I also like the pp’s suggestion of [name_m]Barnes[/name_m].
[name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] fits right in with the ‘old man’ wave coming around again. While at first it’s a little bit of a shocker, it will be really nice name to grow into, and chances are there won’t be another one in his class!
If you’d go a nickname route, I agree with [name_m]Barnes[/name_m]. [name_m]Barney[/name_m] is a no-go for me.
[name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] is one of my favourite names of all time, so I’d say it is usable
