Boy names are the absolute hardest! DH and I both like [name_m]Bauer[/name_m] but I am just not sure that it would be a good FN? Open to other suggestions. Our last name is Martinson so I want something shorter for the FN. We can’t seem to agree on anything!
As it just means “[name_m]Farmer[/name_m]” to me, I’m not sold but I do like the potential nickname of Bau ([name_u]Bo[/name_u]) - which may be another name to consider either as simple [name_u]Bo[/name_u] or American [name_u]Beau[/name_u], it certainly sounds great with the LN.
I think [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Bauer[/name_m] but I think that reference is fading. With all the surnames and occupational names in style, I don’t see why [name_m]Bauer[/name_m] wouldn’t work.
This reference might not be applicable where you live, but [name_m]Bauer[/name_m] makes me think of the skates/skating equipment company, so I can’t really see it as a person’s name.
I think it is definitely useable as a first name and fits in well with many surnames being used today. An alternate spelling would be [name_m]Bauer[/name_m]/[name_m]Bower[/name_m].
I think it’s a good choice. You will have to spell it out sometimes, but it’s easy to pronounce and fits the occupation and last name trend, similar to [name_m]Cooper[/name_m], [name_u]Hunter[/name_u], [name_m]Archer[/name_m], etc.
I think [name_m]Bauer[/name_m] works. It’s fun to say. It’s got punch. It reminds me of bears and people making things with their bare hands. Sometimes using a surname as a first name can be tricky–which name is the “real” last name??–but because your last name is clearly more last namey, I think your golden. I’d keep that name on your list!
As a [name_m]German[/name_m] speaking person I beg you not to name your child [name_m]Bauer[/name_m]! You’d literally name him farmer and I know some people really love occupational names but that goes too far!
