I actually love [name]Drusilla[/name] and am interested in other people’s opinions of it, I know it’s not widely liked, why do you think that is? (If you don’t like it yourself.)
Two things immediately jump to my mind: Dracula, Cruella De Vil. I don’t know why - the associations don’t make a lot of sense - but I think that’s why I don’t like it.
Wasn’t [name]Drusilla[/name] the crazy vampire from [name]Buffy[/name] and [name]Angel[/name]?
I don’t particularly love it because (I’ve been finding) D is just not my letter.
(Also I’m not huge on the [name]Drew[/name] sound)
This makes me think of one of the evil stepsisters from [name]Cinderella[/name]. I know her name was actually Drizella, but this is close. So I just associate it with an ugly, evil girl. Sorry!
Oddly, I don’t have the same issue with [name]Anastasia[/name]…but that’s another story.
To me it doesn’t have a pleasant sound, but the nickname “[name]Dru[/name]” is cute.
No, sorry. [name]Just[/name] no.
Not a fan. I also think of [name]Cinderella[/name]. It has a clunky, odd sound to my ear.
I think of a hideous old witch lady. The name just doesn’t have a nice look or sound.
Cinderellas evil and ugly stepsister. But my daughter is really into Disney movies at the moment so my opinion may be skewed. It just doesn’t have a nice sound though…
It reminds me of the vampire from [name]Buffy[/name]. I like the nickname [name]Dru[/name]. I probably wouldn’t use it, but that’s because it’s ultra feminine/frilly to me. I’d put it in the same camp as [name]Pricilla[/name], [name]Ursula[/name], [name]Desdemona[/name], and [name]Veronica[/name].
No sorry, my first reaction was a cringe.
Sorry but it just sounds awkward and ugly to me.
It’s not a nice sound to me, plus I think of [name]Cinderella[/name]'s nasty step-sister in the Disney version.
As well as Cruella DeVil, and [name]Ursula[/name] from The [name]Little[/name] Mermaid…basically the evil female villains from Disney.
I immediately think of [name]Cinderella[/name]'s Drizella and of the word ‘droop’. It sounds frumpy and a bit “melty” to me.
I actually like Silla or [name]Cilla[/name] on it’s own though, as [name]Dru[/name]- is a very unattractive sound for me.
I immediately thought Dracula x [name]Ursula[/name]. Though [name]Drucilla[/name] looks slightly better than [name]Drusilla[/name], I think it’s not a pretty looking name either way and it also doesn’t have a pretty sound. I wouldn’t expect a charming little girl to walk around the corner if I heard this name irl, but rather someone rather unsightly and malevolent.
I actually know a [name]Drusilla[/name] who goes by the nn [name]Dru[/name]. I don’t personally care for the name.
It’s like a combination of Dracula and Cruella with that sharp little ‘s’ sound in there. not really positive associations. It sounds like some kind of awesome Disney villain. Definitely more of a ‘fantasy’ name than a ‘reality’ name. I like it as a name, but not for a child.
It just always felt like a downer name. Like you’d want to invite a [name]Zara[/name] to a party because she’d bring all the fun, but if you invited a [name]Drusilla[/name]…
On the other hand, I do always appreciate your liking to unusual names.
I love the nn dru/drew… i think this makes it wearable!! I can see why you really like it… I did think Dracula too for some reason when I first saw it but once u got passed that immediate thought I could see its appeal. If you really love it I think it’s totally usable though I think you need to be prepared for mixed responses to your choice… It’s the kind if name people would either love or hate…
I know a teen [name]Drusilla[/name] and it grew on me- not enough to ever use it mind you. She gets called Drusie which is cute.
