Bea as a nickname?

Thanks to a book I just finished reading, I have fallen in love with the name [name_f]Bea[/name_f]. In the book it is short for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], which I don’t love. I feel it is too short to stand on its own, but I don’t like [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]/[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]/[name_f]Beatriz[/name_f].

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Bea[/name_f] (or spelled [name_f]Bee[/name_f]) could be a nickname for any name starting with a B? If so, what are your favorite girl’s names with a B?

I know someone who just had a baby named [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] that goes by [name_f]Bee[/name_f] and I used to know a girl named [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] who went by [name_f]Bee[/name_f]. I’ve even heard of an [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Bee[/name_f]. Seems like if its got a B in there, you’ve got your nickname

I think that if it starts with Be, its fine, but if it’s something like [name_f]Brittany[/name_f], it’s a stretch. But at the end of the day, whatever you call your child will become her name, so it’s really just about pulling it off.

I completely agree.

I agree with pp that [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] could work for nn [name_f]Bee[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Bea[/name_f]/[name_f]Bee[/name_f] could be short for any name that starts with a B.

Thank you! I hadn’t thought of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but I really like the idea of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nickname [name_f]Bee[/name_f]!

I love the nn [name_f]Bea[/name_f]! I think as long as there is a ‘be’ sound in the name, it’s a fine nn.

I think any name that starts with the letter “B” or “Be” would work.
