Bea?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it is substantial enough to stand on ots own without being short for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]?

I do come from and live in [name_f]England[/name_f] which is the land of the nickname so I think that is something to keep in mind.

Thanks for your opinions!

I can imagine [name_f]Bea[/name_f] being okay here as a stand alone name (I still love [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] though). If [name_f]Trixie[/name_f] (love this) is okay, I don’t see why [name_f]Bea[/name_f] shouldn’t be.

I love [name_f]Bea[/name_f] as a standalone name. It is my favourite part of [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] / [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], and it isn’t cutesy, so I think it definitely works.

I only like [name_f]Bea[/name_f] pronounced [name_f]BEE[/name_f]-uh, and I think that works fine on it’s own. The [name_f]BEE[/name_f] pronunciation I’m more hesitant about!

Sure, why not? There are plenty of other one-syllabled names out there ([name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_f]Kate[/name_f], June, to name a few), and they seem to work just fine on their own. Why not [name_f]Bea[/name_f]?

I think it works wonderfully  It actually ranked at #1720 last year, with 17 babies. Baby Names in England & Wales

Yeah I think it’s great.

I know a little [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] really well who goes almost exclusively by [name_f]Bea[/name_f] (tbh it’s mainly me who full-names her :)) so I don’t really need to think twice about it.

I definitely see it as a stand alone name, it’s my daughters middle name!

However, we say it as [name_f]Bee[/name_f] not [name_f]Bee[/name_f]-uh. [name_f]My[/name_f] grandmother middle name was [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], but she said it as [name_f]Bee[/name_f]-trice.

Either way it is a pretty name on its own or with the full name.

It makes me hesitate, but if she will only be called [name_f]Bea[/name_f], then sure!
