Thoughts on [name]Beacon[/name] as a word name? It just popped into my head, and then I noticed that it was in the database. I think it has an appealing sound and meaning, but I worry that it looks to much like “bacon.”
bacon was the first thing i thought of when i saw beacon
The first thing I thought of was [name]Beacon[/name] [name]Hill[/name], which was a neighborhood near where I grew up and also (I think) in [name]Boston[/name]. The second thing I thought of was Bacon. I know that kids will find something to make fun of no matter what the name is, but that seems to kind of hand it to them.
Sadly, I have to agree, bacon was the first thing I thought of…
What about [name]Deacon[/name]?
It reminds me of Beaker of off the Muppets. I’m not a big fan of word names to begin with but I can appreciate some even though they are NMS but I think this one is too much.
I just see Bacon.
I just realized beacon is a noun!
Some common phrases: “beacon of hope” “beacon of light”
Mmm yes bacon, that’s all i see sorry.
Seriously, people see “bacon”? Y’all need to eat a sandwich. I think [name]Beacon[/name] is a fabulous word name: familiar, with lovely associations, but he won’t be the odd one out in a class of Bradens and Carsons.
I am intrigued by [name]Beacon[/name]! I quite like it, actually, and “bacon” wasn’t a part of my thought process at all. Could help that I’m a vegetarian, though, haha.
I think [name]Deacon[/name] is more usable, but [name]Beacon[/name] avoids the religious references that might put some people off, and it still has positive imagery. I do prefer [name]Deacon[/name], though, personally (although I like [name]Declan[/name] even more than that!).
I didn’t see ‘bacon’, I visualized a flashing light. Which is what a beacon is.
I don’t get it. It’s not a name, it’s a thing. There are plenty of underused boys’ names out there, without resorting to this.
I thought it was ‘bacon’ at first glance as well.
It’s a no-go for me, sorry.
When I was looking over the boards at first, I did think this said Bacon. That aside though, I think [name]Beacon[/name] would be an intriguing choice. I do really like the meaning.
It’s a quite interesting choice. I didn’t see or think bacon. At all. Not sure where people are getting that. Maybe you guys are hungry? That being said, I immediately think of a lighthouse or tower with a beacon, because it is a word name. I don’t think it’s terrible, but not sure I’d be brave enough to use it…maybe in the middle? I think it has a great sound. And so many other words are being used as names, why not this one? If [name]Bridge[/name] can pass as a name, [name]Beacon[/name] surely can as well.
