DH thinks [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is more traditional and “classic” where as I slightly prefer [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. It makes me think of [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] and reading her stories growing up. I also like that it’s just that little bit shorter as we use two middle names. We like the nicknames for both but love and prefer [name_f]Bea[/name_f] anyway.
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is technically older than [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], but it’s never had the amount of usage of the other name. [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is more spunky and less common, but [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] will cause less spelling confusion and is more vintage. Both of them have slightly different nickname options. Both have [name_f]Bea[/name_f], but [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and [name_f]Trix[/name_f] and [name_f]Trixie[/name_f] whereas [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] has [name_u]Tris[/name_u].
For [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Cara[/name_f], I prefer [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] as they just flow better together. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Cait[/name_f] is a great option that flows well. You might also consider taking a look at the Spanish [name_f]Beatriz[/name_f].
Both are lovely, but I have a slight preference for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. Despite @generic’s reply, I would say [name_f]Trix[/name_f] and [name_f]Trixie[/name_f] also work as a nickname for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f].
Both flow the same with your middle names to me, but [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] sound nicer together. That said, [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] look good together with the uncommon v and uncommon x.
I do tend to prefer [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], for the literary connections and the added spunk. However, with [name_f]Violet[/name_f], I think [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is a better-matched option. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] is stunning.
I love [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] for the reasons already mentioned, but also it stands out as not being common, which I like. I think either one is lovely with [name_f]Violet[/name_f], neither “grate”, so you should choose whichever one you end up loving the most. [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Cait[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] are my favourites.
I prefer [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] because it’s spunkier and a little less common, but actually older, I think. Also because I like [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] pronounced [name_f]Bee[/name_f]-uh-triss but not [name_f]Bee[/name_f]-triss and the latter is definitely more common in my area. I’ve only ever heard [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] pronounced like [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]. I do think [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] goes better with [name_f]Violet[/name_f], but certainly not enough for that to sway your decision. I prefer [name_f]Bea[/name_f] as the nickname, though I do think [name_f]Trixie[/name_f] can be used for either [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], but it’s more intuitive with [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f].
I like both but [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] wins i think. It just has an edge to it.
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] would be amazing, as would [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Cait[/name_f]
I much prefer [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] for its feisty final consonant!
I actually think [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] fits slightly better with [name_f]Violet[/name_f]: both sweet yet tailored vintage names, similar in length both in sound and on paper, and both with storybook connotations.
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Cait[/name_f] would be my pick. Beautiful!
I prefer [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], it sounds more energetic and fun than [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] to me. I think this vibe also complements the spunk of [name_f]Violet[/name_f] as well, so I think they would make excellent sisters.
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] would be my choice. I love the [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] association, but slightly prefer the elegance of [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f].
I much prefer [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], in fact this is the name we’re planning to use for our baby if it’s a girl.
My favorite combo’s from your list would be [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Niamh[/name_f].
I understand your confusion! This name family has consistently been in my top ten, but I go back and forth between [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. I used to drastically prefer spunky [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], but lately I’ve been more into the soft [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. I think they both work well with [name_f]Violet[/name_f], and I prefer either to [name_f]Florence[/name_f] or [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f].
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] has the storybook imagery, and the “x” really highlights [name_f]Violet[/name_f]'s “v”. [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] makes [name_f]Violet[/name_f] spunkier. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], on the other hand, initially feels more vintage, and I think it highlights [name_f]Violet[/name_f]'s feminine and graceful qualities. It’s all about which qualities you want to focus on.
I think my favorite is [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Cait[/name_f].
As someone else said [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is the older name but because of never achieving the level of usage of [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] doesn’t feel as “classic” to many people. I don’t know if this point would sway your partner at all but is worth mentioning. I also think [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] has a slight spunk to it that works well with sister [name_f]Violet[/name_f].
Whichever way you decide you can’t go wrong though!
I really like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Cait[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Cait[/name_f]. [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] works better with the [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] combo and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] works slightly better with the [name_f]Flora[/name_f] combo.
As much as I like the soft sound and gentle, elegant feel of [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]’s strong, feisty, stylish, film star-esque imagery puts her up there as one of my all time favourites. I love the [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] connection too, and there’s a character association I adore (who’s the reason I love [name_f]Trixie[/name_f]). [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Cait[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] go really well with your daughter’s name.
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] is so dreamlike! I love [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] more than [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f].
This is a hard one – I love [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is spunky just like [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and has a lesser used letter (V) just like the X in [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. Either way I think it works and is a lovely name!
@adelina_sophia I have [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] on my list as well
It’s such a toughie! I can see what DH is saying with [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] as it’s more ‘our style’. If this baby had been a boy, for example, we’d have used [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] or [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. I do find [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] to have a bit more of an edge to it though and I think it’ll bring out [name_f]Violet[/name_f]’s too.
We like names that have meaning, although there are a few favourites thrown into our list too. I guess we will decide by going with the name that flows best with our chosen middle names.
Definitely [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. For some odd reason I really dont like [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. Not sure why. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] on the other hand l love. Beautiful, feminine name with great nn potentials and not overdone.
