Beatrice or Beatrix?

I’ve never seen the beat rice connection before! I definitely don’t love that. [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is most definitely spunky and cool though

Both really are lovely! What makes you prefer [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] to [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]?

I first discovered the name in The 39 Clues and I pronounced it like beat rice until a teacher told me I was wrong.

I’m the same way! I like that it has a softer and more vintage feel.

There’s also [name_f]Beatriz[/name_f] for a troubadour vibe and [name_f]Beata[/name_f] for a Euro vibe.

I love the way you described it, especially the storybook vibe. It definitely ticks all those boxes, and [name_f]Trixie[/name_f] is a super fun nickname!

It’s interesting to see the slight differences between the UK and the US as well (I live in the Midwest). I think you’re right that [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] works wonderfully with classics like [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]! It’s funny to me because with the exception of [name_f]Alice[/name_f], those names seem to be way more popular in the UK than here. I wonder if that’s why [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] might be appealing to UK berries because it’s different from the other softer, more vintage names so it sounds more unique. I will say though I’m definitely surprised [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is pulling ahead in this poll!

I can see the appeal! It’s definitely spunky and fun and a nice change of pace from other more common names with this vibe.

This is the same way I feel! I love the idea and look of [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] but I always feel very clumsy saying it. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is just sweet and smooth, but it has spunky options for nicknames like [name_f]Bea[/name_f] and [name_u]Tris[/name_u]!

Yes exactly. Both are gorgeous and I can see the appeal of [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. I just prefer [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. I think you’re right though it would definitely depend on your individual style and what kind of vibe you want to have!

I also think of the [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] kids book! I think that’s why I have such a soft spot for both [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] despite the fact that they’re not really my style. They’re so sweet and nostalgic!

I was going to include [name_f]Beatriz[/name_f] because it’s actually my favorite but tbh it just complicated the poll a little too much for me. But I might do a follow up poll and see what people think!

Personally, I love [name_f]Beatriz[/name_f].

I agree they’re definitely smart and vintage. I think I slightly prefer [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] because of that softer bookish vibe, but I also appreciate [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] for its spunk and character! Both are great options.

Oh my goodness :joy: that reminds me of the time I spent an entire book pronouncing Anyanwu because I read it as Anwanyu. I found out later it’s because I’m dyslexic!

I really think it depends on the vibe you’re going for. I prefer [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], since I usually prefer more traditional names, but someone who might want something more dramatic would go for [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f].

I honestly like both variations about equally, what sways me usually has to do with the other names involved (middle and surname.)

I prefer the spunky feel of [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] (or, even better, [name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f]!)

Neither. [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] by a mile if I had to pick (but I’m quite neutral on it, I just really don’t like [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]).

I like [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] better than [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] has a nice sound to it.

I like the use of dramatic here because [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] does feel very theater-esque to me. It definitely has that confidence and flair where [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is more tame and soft. I could see it suiting someone who is famous quite well.
