My husband and I love these three names, but can’t decide which we should use. We haven’t decided on middle names yet, but, our last name is [name]Cuthbert[/name]. Nicknames would be [name]Betsy[/name]/[name]Essie[/name] ([name]Beatrice[/name]) and [name]Lillie/name We don’t like the name [name]Tillie[/name], so please, don’t suggest that for [name]Ottilie[/name] Which name gets your vote?
[name]Love[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name] and [name]Ottilie[/name], don’t care for [name]Dulcie[/name]. [name]Favorite[/name] is probably [name]Ottilie[/name] (as I prefer [name]Beatrix[/name] over [name]Beatrice[/name].)
We’ll also gladly take any suggestions! DH’s mother is [name]Kathryn[/name], my mother is [name]Elizabeth[/name], we were considering one of them, but we aren’t sure. [name]Victoria[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] are both out.
I love all of these names, though I do slightly prefer [name]Beatrice[/name] and [name]Ottilie[/name] over [name]Dulcie[/name]…I honestly can’t decide based on the first name, so I will take your surname into account - I love the sound of [name]Ottilie[/name] [name]Cuthbert[/name].
I prefer [name]Beatrice[/name] and [name]Ottilie[/name] over [name]Dulcie[/name] as well. Since both [name]Beatrice[/name] and [name]Ottilie[/name] are three syllables (or depending on how you are pronouncing [name]Ottilie[/name], 4) and your surname is a longer two syllable name, I would suggest a shorter middle. Maybe [name]Kate[/name] for honoring your [name]MIL[/name], or [name]Elise[/name] for yours? [name]Ottilie[/name] [name]Kate[/name] [name]Cuthbert[/name]? [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Elise[/name] [name]Cuthbert[/name]? I also like [name]Ottilie[/name] [name]Wren[/name] [name]Cuthbert[/name] and [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Cuthbert[/name].
It’s a tie between [name]Beatrice[/name] and [name]Ottilie[/name] for me–both are so excellent. [name]Dulcie[/name] is just too saccharine (pun intended) and I can’t see it aging well.
[name]Beatrice[/name] is my favorite!
[name]Dulcie[/name] is pretty, sweet and cutesy. It is a nickname of [name]Dulcinea[/name]. I would use the full name even though it is a bit frilly.
I think [name]Dulcie[/name] sounds great with [name]Cuthbert[/name].
Not a fan of [name]Beatrice[/name] or [name]Ottilie[/name] (very non-Nameberry of me, I know!). I don’t really like ‘B’ names much, and [name]Ottilie[/name] is very awkward to say, for some reason. I find it clunky.
I think [name]Ottilie[/name] has that flair that many modern parents want- it’s not clunky or anything similar. I think [name]Lillie[/name] would be a great nickname for [name]Ottilie[/name], though if you call her [name]Lillie[/name] she might be mistook for a [name]Lillian[/name]. I give [name]Ottilie[/name] my vote!
I love [name]Ottilie[/name] but not the nickname [name]Lillie[/name], but only because [name]Lily[/name] is so very popular, at least in my area. We know several Lillies. Although I guess she could scrap the nn if she was one of several Lillies in the class.
I love [name]Beatrice[/name]. Beautiful.
And I may be the first to say my favorite option is [name]Dulcie[/name]. I don’t know any little girls named this, and it is so cute and sweet. However, I too would go with [name]Dulcinea[/name]. She was the love interest of [name]Don[/name] [name]Quixote[/name] - a very cool namesake, if you ask me.
I like seeing [name]Dulcie[/name] listed as an option though. I have a relative with this name and I didn’t think her name was coming back into fashion. I think it would be nice to see this!
I’m not a fan of [name]Dulcie[/name]- I also find it a bit too sugary-sweet. [name]Beatrice[/name] and [name]Ottilie[/name] are both beautiful though! Sophisticated, elegant and feminine but not flimsy. If I had to pick I slightly prefer [name]Beatrice[/name] because it’s more familiar (but not overused- I’ve never met one [name]IRL[/name]). Have you considered using [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Ottilie[/name] or [name]Ottilie[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name] as a combo?
