What do you think? My SO proposed it last night. We think our top 2 choices now are [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. We just made the switch from [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] to [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] because we like that it sounds a bit more playful.
It’s nice, very prim and proper, and double children’s lit references with [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] and [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables. Not nearly as cute as [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] though
I quite like it, but it’s a very Nameberry name, if you know what I mean. I can think of at least four babyberries who have [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] as their first or middle name, and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]/[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is a Nameberry favorite as well. If it doesn’t bother you, [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is a lovely combo, and I like both names separately, too. [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] definitely feels fresher and more playful than [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f].
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is lovely.
I like both names but somehow they don’t click for me when put together. Probably because they’re both rather grand they don’t really do much for one another.
I did think of this too! Usually I pair an elaborate name with a simpler one like [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]Frances[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] works fine but I also like:
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Fay[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] (and agree it’s more playful than [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]) and love [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. Together they sound quite clunky, however I still would be delighted to meet a little one in real life with this combo! I think I like quite clunky sounds - so, a yes from me!
+1
But combo is very nice, just don’t click for me…
I like it! Still loving [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] but [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is a great compromise name!
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is a wonderful middle for it.
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is so, so lovely! It’s quite a lot of name, though, compared to [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. If you enjoy [name_f]Cora[/name_f], I would almost implore you to see how [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Cora[/name_f] sounds to you, or something else that could be drawn from the lush [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] to fit a little better. However, it’s still an amazing name, and it would be just wonderful to have a little [name_f]Bea[/name_f]!
I love it! A little heavy but the nickname “[name_f]Bea[/name_f]” makes it less so in my opinion.
Thanks all! I’m worried about how heavy it is so now we’re talking about [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]!
Much as I do like [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], I think [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is quite heavenly. This is a fabulous combo [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], though I get the style you’re coming from.
I love [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], and I definitely think [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] brings out her playfulness and feistiness more than [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is a lovely choice too, but [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] will always win over for me.
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is great! I find [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] too girlish for a first name but it really lightens up [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] as a middle. They balance each other well.
I like both [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], although for some reason the latter actually feels more dated to me than the former
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] could be nicknamed [name_f]Bee[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] - seems cute and sugarine, but bit cool…
I think it’s beautiful. The flow of [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is just lovely. I do love the nickname [name_f]Winnie[/name_f], but as a fn [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] isn’t my style. So I would prefer [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f].
