Beatrix: fusty or funky!

What’s your honest opinions on name [name]Beatrix[/name] I’m intestested to know? It’s a name with many contradictions for me from [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Potter[/name] to Kill [name]Bill[/name] associations…and with nn possiblities ranging from elegant [name]Bea[/name] to spunky [name]Trixie[/name] to cute bee! The name incites curiosity in me and feels whimsical! I’m wondering what others impressions are good or bad?

I love the name. I think the ‘x’ makes it feisty, but at the same time its polished, professional, and timeless.

Not at all fusty to me. I also love it!

Funky. I see [name]Beatrice[/name] as a little less on trend, but even that’s not a dealbreaker as I quite like [name]Beatrice[/name]. I don’t think [name]Beatrix[/name] sounds particularly fusty.

I do really hate [name]Trix[/name]/[name]Trixie[/name] as a NN and that’s part of why I favour [name]Beatrice[/name]. But if [name]Trix[/name]/[name]Trixie[/name]/Trick isn’t used where you are the same way it is where I grew up, maybe its okay. But if I had a [name]Beatrix[/name] I would probably call her [name]Bee[/name] or [name]Birdie[/name] or just [name]Beatrix[/name].

It’s on my list, I’m weighing it against [name]Briar[/name], but for us it would be a middle name so the -trix thing isn’t as big a deal.

Definitely funky! It doesn’t feel musty to be at all. I’m really surprised that it isn’t in the top 1000 yet, and I suspect that it will be entering it soon. (Not to say that it’ll explode in popularity, because I don’t think it will.)

[name]Love[/name] it! You can call her [name]Bea[/name] for short, so cute.

[name]Truly[/name] adore this name - for exactly the contradictions you list.
I liked it for a long time. I had seen Kill [name]Bill[/name], and not loved the movie, nor remembered the character name.
Now years later I love the film - and the fact that that is her name just makes it awesomer.

[name]Love[/name] it! [name]Beatrice[/name] is too soft and blah to me, but [name]Beatrix[/name] is so strong and spunky and fun. I love the nn [name]Bea[/name] for it, or even just [name]Beatrix[/name]. It’s such a fun name.

I love [name]Beatrice[/name] but dislike [name]Beatrix[/name]. I can’get into the ‘trick’ part of it & all of it’s negative meaning. I think [name]Trixie[/name] sounds awful.

I think [name]Beatrice[/name] is lovely though and I plan on using it in the middle.

This is how I feel as well.

Funky! I love [name]Beatrix[/name]. The spunky ‘x’ really makse it appealing. I love [name]Beatrice[/name] as well, and it only beats [name]Beatrix[/name] because I hate the nickname [name]Trix[/name]/[name]Trixie[/name].

[name]Beatrix[/name] is a favorite of mine as well but I also have issues with what to think of it and I keep going back a forth. [name]Glad[/name] you started this thread!

Ok, I may be the only one who feels this way, but I don’t get [name]Beatrice[/name] and definitely don’t care for [name]Beatrix[/name]. I’m sure the name has a legit history and all that, but it seriously has always sounded made up to me. And also a little bit like the parents were trying too hard to be cool/unique. Also, [name]Beatrix[/name] sounds witchy to me. No idea why, it just does! I’m sorry! That is an honest opinion and I’m trying to be polite about it. My inkling is that you will find more people than not like me outside the Nameberry bubble.

That being said, I think [name]Bea[/name] as a nn is nice.

[name]Beatrix[/name] is one of my all time favorites.

Thank you Tintri for playing devils advocate and being honest. Great to see so much love for [name]Beatrix[/name] though… It does just have so much spunk in my opinion and yet is classy at the same time!

Not fusty in the slightest. [name]Beatrix[/name] is modern, fresh and fun. I named my car [name]Beatrix[/name] and my only regret is I didn’t get to use it for a little girl. When people find out the name is [name]Beatrix[/name] its always a pleasant surprise.

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]BEATRIX[/name]! It is a great name and totally fun!
