I want to use one of these names for my daughter. [name]Beatrix[/name] to me sounds more like a first name while [name]Beatrice[/name] sounds more like a middle name. What are your thoughts? And do you like these name combos?
I love all of your combos though I’m afraid I’m more of a [name]Beatrice[/name] fan than a [name]Beatrix[/name] (the -trice ending just sounds a little softer and more feminine to me) but either are great names.
[name]How[/name] about [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Thalia[/name] [name]Violet[/name]? I also think that adding [name]Rose[/name] into your list of possible middle would be something to consider, to me [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Thalia[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is pretty close to perfection :).
Good luck! x
I like [name]Beatrix[/name] a lot! [name]Beatrice[/name] has always felt more wishy-washy to me. I really like [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Violet[/name] for a combo, but I love [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Sophia[/name], too. I like [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Kate[/name] best, but I like the [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Violet[/name] part slightly better than [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Sophia[/name], if that makes sense.
Pretty combos, but I love [name]Beatrice[/name] over [name]Beatrix[/name]. I just feel like [name]Beatrice[/name] is gorgeous & [name]Beatrix[/name] is trying too hard.
Had this issue in my family. My husband is strongly team [name]Beatrix[/name], and I prefer [name]Beatrice[/name].
I think I am losing the argument actually. Unless we end up going with another name altogether.
I like both, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t like the sound of “tricks” or “trick” (which is a pretty big insult where I’m from) especially on a first name. As a middle its less of a big deal, hence my willingness to compromise. I do think [name]Beatrice[/name] is softer sounding.
[name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Violet[/name] [name]Grace[/name] - I like [name]Violet[/name] a lot, [name]Grace[/name] doesn’t do much for me.
[name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Thalia[/name] [name]Kate[/name] - I like [name]Thalia[/name] with a hard T sound as in [name]Thomas[/name], less when pronounced with a the as in “the.” However, I prefer [name]Kate[/name] to [name]Grace[/name].
[name]Sophia[/name] isn’t really my sort of thing though its a nice name. If I wanted that softer sound to contrast with [name]Beatrix[/name] I might consider [name]Viola[/name]?
My son has a [name]Beatrix[/name] in his class. At first I wan’t a fan of it, but now I like it! (Most of the kids call her “B”) I think it sounds and looks more modern than [name]Beatrice[/name]. I like it with the middle name [name]Sophia[/name]. Good luck making a decision!
I like [name]Beatrix[/name].
I’ve never liked the name [name]Beatrice[/name].
But I absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Thalia[/name].
Best of luck.
I like [name]Beatrix[/name] a lot more than [name]Beatrice[/name]. [name]Beatrice[/name] sounds more old lady, even though I do like old lady names. [name]Beatrix[/name] is just more kicky. However, I think [name]Beatrix[/name] is more trendy, but then again, that could just be from overuse of nameberry!
I much prefer [name]Beatrice[/name]…to me, [name]Beatrix[/name] is trying way too hard, and makes me think of [name]Bellatrix[/name] from [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name]…and, [name]Beatrix[/name] with two middle names would be too much for me. I like [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Kate[/name].
I love both. [name]Beatrix[/name] puts me in mind of Ms. [name]Potter[/name] and her books while [name]Beatrice[/name] is [name]Shakespeare[/name]'s snappy heroine from Much [name]Ado[/name] About Nothing. [name]Beatrix[/name] feels more youthful and spunky while [name]Beatrice[/name] more mature and elegant (with a little feistiness thrown in). I don’t really get a strong first vs. middle vibe from either one; both work in either place for me.
My only real advice (since I’m clearly torn on the above point) is that I wouldn’t follow either with [name]Sophia[/name] since the S at the end of either version slides into the start of [name]Sophia[/name] (esp. [name]Beatrice[/name] which doesn’t have that kick of “x” to finish its sound and differentiate it a little from the next “s” sound, if that makes sense…). [name]Thalia[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] are both beautiful and more unusual.
[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] with [name]Thalia[/name]!
I prefer it to [name]Beatrice[/name]… I know a lot of Beatrices and no [name]Beatrix[/name]'s… it’s unusual yet lends itself to nicknames like [name]Bea[/name] and Trick and [name]Trixie[/name] even, which are less unconventional.
I think [name]Beatrix[/name] is exciting and feisty, yet girlie too. [name]Thalia[/name] makes the name truly majestic
Not to be unpleasant, but I couldn’t possibly count that as an upside, at least for me. Trick and [name]Trixie[/name] are both used as slang for “whore” at least in my hometown. “She’s a trick.” is the sort of thing you might outlast as a grown woman but would be hell in middle school.
