[name]Hi[/name] Berries,
My husband and I really like [name]Beau[/name] [name]Ericson[/name] M_____(2 syllables) for our baby due in [name]June[/name]. Thoughts? Predictions on popularity? We are stuck however on a girls name. We are not finding out the sex so I would like to have options for both. Does [name]Beau[/name] work for a girl? Would you spell it differently? The middle name would be [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] after family. Does if flow? Any other girl suggestions that go with our middles? (I like the names [name]Violet[/name], [name]Whitley[/name], [name]Ellis[/name], [name]Monroe[/name], [name]Wren[/name], [name]Quinn[/name] etc.) No matter how many names I read I still come out with the same list. Thanks for the help!
I like [name]Beau[/name] for a boy… but not for a girl. I like [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] M_____. I like [name]Violet[/name], but [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Rose[/name] are flowers and both [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Hazel[/name] are colors so it seems pretty repetitive. Good luck!
As a standalone name? Absolutely not. [name]Beau[/name] is aggressively masculine to me, up there with [name]Butch[/name] – I mean, it’s the word for a [name]MALE[/name] suitor!
However, [name]Beau[/name] as a nn for a girl named [name]Isabeau[/name] (love this name), or [name]Bo[/name] as a nn for [name]Bonnie[/name], [name]Deborah[/name], or [name]Boheme[/name] would be sweet, spunky, and completely adorable.
[name]Beau[/name] is a great boys name! It doesn’t work that well for a girl imo. [name]Beau[/name] is a strong name, but shouldn’t ever be too popular. [name]How[/name] about just [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] for a girl? I think it sounds really nice. Or, from your other choices [name]Whitley[/name] [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is nice too.
[name]Beau[/name] is a masculine word, and as far as I’m concerned (as a French speaker), it does not work for a girl.
I call my boyfriend [name]Beau[/name] every now and then… it means “handsome” and it is very masculine. I’m saying a definite no.
I agree with the above posters. [name]Beau[/name] is a masculine adjective in French (counterpart to “belle”), so it seems weird to use it for a girl, especially with the added meaning of a male suitor. Not to mention, [name]Beau[/name] as a first name has a bit of a cowboy feel to it. [name]Bo[/name] would be okay as a nickname, for [name]Bonnie[/name], [name]Bonita[/name], [name]Bozena[/name]…
From the names you posted, I like [name]Wren[/name] [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Quinn[/name] [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Rose[/name].
[name]Beau[/name] is not a name for a girl. It is well-known that it means “handsome” in the French language. It’s why “belle” is so popular in the girl name world - it means beautiful.
[name]Beau[/name] is great for a boy. A girl? NO.
We would not spell [name]Beau[/name] the same for a girl. I do not like the B.O. association with that particular spelling and I have not fell in love with any of the longer versions like [name]Isabeau[/name]. Suggestions?
What about [name]Bow[/name]? as in “tie a bow in your hair”
I agree with the others that on it’s own it’s assumed to be masculine. Though I also agree that it does have a slightly feminine feel.
What about doing a double-barreled name with -[name]Bow[/name]. [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Bow[/name], [name]Ivy[/name]-[name]Bow[/name], [name]Sara[/name]-[name]Bow[/name], [name]Clara[/name]-[name]Bow[/name], [name]Ava[/name]-[name]Bow[/name], etc.
I think I could get behind something like that.
Did a little searching… I found the name Beaue for a girl, it’s pronounced [name]Beau[/name]-ee (like [name]David[/name] [name]Bowie[/name]) apparently… Other than something like [name]Rainbow[/name] (cringe) I can’t think of any girl names that has the ‘bow’ sound in it that hasn’t already been mentioned.
I think [name]Beau[/name] is great for a girl or a boy! I think you could also use [name]Bo[/name] for a boy and [name]Bow[/name] for a girl! It’s an adorable name!
[name]Do[/name] you think [name]Bow[/name]/[name]Bowie[/name] etc. will age well for a woman? I have to remind myself that so much is excepted now but I still question it?
I really like Bo for a girl. It reminds of a bow, as in a ribbon. It’s cute!
Maybe you would like Isabeau?
Oh, never mind, I guess you don’t.
Every other option just sounds silly…
Rainbow, Boudiccea, Bowen, Bowie, Boheme? ugh
The only other names I can find are Barbot (a form of Barbara), Charbonnay and Milborough
Could not agree more.
[name]Beau[/name] for a boy and Bo or POSSIBLY Beaux for a girl
[name]Bo[/name] can also be a nn for [name]Elizabeth[/name] or Beatrice. I like Whitney better than Whitley but only b/c Whitley reminds me of tv show A Different World. Love Wren and Quinn. Also I really like Belle for a girl. Not Bella or Isabel etc… Just Belle. Very cute. Could be an alternative to Beau for you.
I definitely wouldn’t use [name]Bow[/name] because it could be pronounced with an “ow” sound (like taking a bow or a dog saying bow wow), which seems confusing. I think [name]Bo[/name] (like [name]Bo[/name] [name]Derek[/name]) would be best, followed perhaps by Beaux (though that’s just plural of beau, so still masculine)… I think it works best as a nickname, however. [name]Roberta[/name] or [name]Robin[/name] might be added to the full names options list, but I suspect those might not be your style. [name]Wren[/name] and [name]Hazel[/name] are lovely!
I actually quite like [name]Beau[/name] on a girl…
I am a lover of unisex names, but can’t picture [name]Beau[/name] as a full name for a daughter. Possibly as a nn for [name]Bardot[/name]?
