Only a few weeks away from [name_u]Baby[/name_u]'s arrival (gender unknown). We have settled on [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] ([name_f]Maisie[/name_f]) for a girl. Right now our top boy’s name is [name_m]Beau[/name_m], but I keep second-guessing it. I think because I feel it should have a more formal full name… And [name_m]Beauregard[/name_m] is just way too clunky sounding. Our last name is only one syllable as well. I recently came across [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m], which also happens to be my great-grandfather’s middle name. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that [name_m]Beau[/name_m] could serve as a nn for [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] [name_u]Reilly[/name_u]? ([name_u]Reilly[/name_u] is a family name and my husband’s middle name). Otherwise, what are thoughts on [name_m]Beau[/name_m] [name_u]Reilly[/name_u]?
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is gorgeous. I much prefer [name_m]Beau[/name_m] [name_u]Reilly[/name_u] to [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] [name_u]Reilly[/name_u]. The two combos give off such different vibes. Although I am all for family names. You can give any name the nickname [name_m]Beau[/name_m]. [name_m]Beau[/name_m] can definitely stand on its own. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Reilly[/name_u] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] “[name_m]Beau[/name_m]”? [name_u]Reilly[/name_u] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] has a different feel from [name_m]Beau[/name_m] [name_u]Reilly[/name_u] but closer.
I wouldn’t guess that Beau would be a nickname for Ambrose, but you can call him whatever you want I s’pose. Beau is an amazing name, one of my favorites, Ambrose sounds a little old fashioned to me? I say just go with Beau Reilly or Beau Ambrose. I’m assuming if you want to call him Beau, short for Ambrose, you probably like Beau better? I don’t see any problems with the name. :]
I think [name_m]Beau[/name_m] does work as a nickname for [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m], though I do think it would make much more sense to people if the nickname were spelled [name_u]Bo[/name_u]. [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] ‘[name_u]Bo[/name_u]’ [name_u]Reilly[/name_u] is brilliant - I love it!
[name_u]Bo[/name_u] and [name_m]Aro[/name_m] (…LOL) are my own preferred nicknames for [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m].
