I like Welsh names. My son’s name is [name_u]Owen[/name_u], which is Welsh but obviously very Americanized/mainstream. So I’m thinking I can get away with something also Welsh but a bit more adventurous if he has a sister.
From your list, I like [name_f]Enid[/name_f], [name_f]Eluned[/name_f], [name_f]Winifred[/name_f], [name_f]Iona[/name_f], [name_f]Iola[/name_f], [name_f]Carys[/name_f], [name_f]Nesta[/name_f], [name_f]Elinor[/name_f], [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] and [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]. I find these more useable. I love [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] and wish I could use it, but it would probably be strange to have [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]. [name_f]Iona[/name_f] and [name_f]Enid[/name_f] are the two that are on my list.
My best friend from kindergarten through high school had the name [name_f]Olwyn[/name_f], a slight variation on [name_f]Olwen[/name_f], and I have always found it to be beautiful.
I like [name_f]Eluned[/name_f], [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] (although I prefer [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]), [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]/[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f], Liliwen (such an unusual [name_f]Lily[/name_f] name!), and [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]. I want to like [name_f]Carys[/name_f], but I just can’t get into it. It just seems so overdone.
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Mair[/name_f], [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f], [name_f]Olwen[/name_f], [name_f]Eluned[/name_f], Callwen, Liliwen, [name_f]Carys[/name_f], Alwen… why so lousy poll? (sorry, but I can’t decide for a group of name, just name by name)
[name_f]Gladys[/name_f] - don’t like this, never have, never will.
[name_f]Iola[/name_f] - I don’t think this is Welsh.
[name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] - Cornish, not Welsh. Morwen is Welsh though.
[name_f]Nesta[/name_f] - love this one, so sweet.
Alwen - like this one, but prefer [name_f]Arwen[/name_f].
[name_f]Carys[/name_f] - sweet.
[name_f]Iona[/name_f] - Scottish.
[name_f]Gwenda[/name_f] - prefer other [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] names.
Liliwen - did you mean Lilwen? I’ve never seen Liliwen, but Lilwen is a Welsh name meaning white lily or blessed lily.
[name_f]Enid[/name_f] - I never cared for [name_f]Enid[/name_f], but there’s nothing wrong with it.
[name_f]Angharad[/name_f] - [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Angharad[/name_f]. It’s an amazing name with a wonderful story.
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] - prefer the proper [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f], as the -yn suffix is masculine.
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] - English, not Welsh.
Lewella/Llewella - Llewella is pretty.
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f] - Sweet. I also like the real Welsh spelling Gwenfrewy.
[name_f]Ceri[/name_f]/Cerian - Pretty.
[name_f]Glenda[/name_f]/[name_f]Glenys[/name_f]/[name_f]Glynis[/name_f] -[name_f]Glenda[/name_f]'s English. The other two I don’t like.
[name_f]Dilys[/name_f] - eh, not too fond of this one.
[name_f]Eiluned[/name_f]/[name_f]Eluned[/name_f]/[name_f]Luned[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Eluned[/name_f] and [name_f]Luned[/name_f], uber sweetness.
Callwen - dislike.
[name_f]Mair[/name_f] - quite pretty.
[name_f]Olwen[/name_f]/Olwenna - I adore [name_f]Olwen[/name_f], it’s one of my favourites. Feminine enough on it’s own, doesn’t need the -a at the end.
