In my family on my moms side, if your firstborn is a boy, you are supposed to name him Beautine [name]Paul[/name]. Which is why my younger brothers middle name is [name]Paul[/name]. Luckily, me and my mom are the oldest. My Grandpa and his dad are Beautine Pauls. What do you think of it? Its pronounced Buu-teen. There were about 7 in the 1940s. When I have kids, I’ll probably put this in the middle name spot!
I like family traditions, though I would definitely put this in a middle spot and not up front. I think it looks quite feminine, like those twangy Southern women’s names like [name]Earleen[/name], Novaleen, [name]Pearline[/name], Margoline… I like nn [name]Beau[/name], though, and think that a family history with a name can give it great meaning.
You mean like butane gas but with -teen at the end?
I like Butte (sounds like beauty without the “ee”) but not crazy about the way it looks. It can also be spelled Beaut/Beautt. Or just go with [name]Beau[/name]
I competely agree with all of the above!
[name]Kinda[/name] like The beau in beauty.
I have to say I am not a fan. I’d be the rebel that breaks traditon…but that’s me.
I would use Beau and leave it at that.
Wow…I think this tradition is fabulous! I would definately use it. I think Beautine is very cool and I would respect the family in a big way. There are always nn’s and I think a first son of mine would treat this as an honor.
It looks like a feminization of [name]Beau[/name]. Maybe just shorten it to [name]Beau[/name] or move it to mn. Beautine just looks very girly to me, like [name]Justine[/name]. The male version would be [name]Justin[/name].
I agree with previous posters - it looks feminine, and also is pronounced the same as the name of a natural gas found in crude oil (butene). Beaumont or [name]Beauregard[/name] could be alternative options? I personally prefer just [name]Beau[/name] as a first name, but that’s only my opinion.
I must be in the minority but I think Beautine is really cool. To me, he sounds like a creole gentleman from [name]Louisiana[/name].
Maybe not right for Illinois, but still way cool.
At first I was really confused - I was thinking, “why is a post about the name Beautine in the boys name section?” And for that reason, I think it’s absolutely best left as a middle name. I’d even just shorten it to [name]Beau[/name], if that’s an option.
I like it. I’m a big fan of tradition so I would consider using it.
