Because I get to name them twice ...

If y’all are familiar with Jewish naming traditions then you might know that most people outside fo [name_m]Israel[/name_m] give their kids two names: a legal name and a Jewish/Hebrew name. This is something I’m really looking forward to when I have kids, as each kid will get two names!

Because some of my kids will likely have Hebrew names as first names or as middle names, for instance, If I used [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Neve[/name_f], I’d only have to change [name_f]Neve[/name_f] so her Hebrew name could be [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] or [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Leah[/name_f] what have you. If I were to use a name combo in which neither were Hebrew such as [name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], I would come up with an entirely different Hebrew name combo, maybe [name_f]Miri[/name_f] [name_f]Liora[/name_f].

Anyway, it’s fun to start thinking about what Hebrew name combos I’d consider so I’d like your opinion on some combos! I’d also like to hear what you would want to mix and match the name to.

[name_f]Nechama[/name_f] Liat (Neh-hah-mah) (lee-AHT)
[name_f]Chaya[/name_f] Gefen (high-yah) (geh-fenn)
Yocheved (yo-hev-ved)
[name_f]Pesha[/name_f] Margalit (peh-shah) (mar-gah-LEET)
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f] Odeya (oh-day-yah)
[name_f]Naamah[/name_f] (nah-ah-mah)
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Nomi[/name_f]
[name_f]Neta[/name_f] [name_f]Miriam[/name_f]
[name_f]Beryl[/name_f] [name_f]Chana[/name_f] (gutteral ch sound, soft A)
[name_u]Lior[/name_u]
[name_m]Simcha[/name_m]
Elisheva
Tzipporah Yael (yah-elle)

These names all have special meanings, too!

I also definitely will use [name_f]Chana[/name_f], I don’t love the name but it’s also my Hebrew middle name and the Hebrew name of a family friend who happens to be a Holocaust survivor and I would love to honor her.

[name_f]Nechama[/name_f] Liat - amazing!! [name_u]Love[/name_u] the soubds
[name_f]Chaya[/name_f] Gefen - not such a fan of Gefen but it flows well with [name_f]Chaya[/name_f]
[name_f]Pesha[/name_f] Margalit - lovely and distinctive. [name_f]Pesha[/name_f] has flair.
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f] Odeya - I like it a lot. Odeya [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] would be nice too and I think could work well as an alternative for [name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f].
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Nomi[/name_f] - sweet, simple and light
[name_f]Neta[/name_f] [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] - pretty and strong
[name_f]Beryl[/name_f] [name_f]Chana[/name_f] - not my favourite but it works
Tzippprah [name_u]Yael[/name_u] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Yael[/name_u] and it fits well here

[name_f]Elisheva[/name_f] [name_u]Lior[/name_u]
[name_u]Yael[/name_u] [name_m]Simcha[/name_m]
[name_f]Naamah[/name_f] Liat
[name_u]Yael[/name_u] [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] (for [name_u]July[/name_u] [name_f]Miriam[/name_f])
[name_m]Ronit[/name_m] [name_f]Chana[/name_f]
[name_f]Pesha[/name_f] Yocheved
[name_f]Nechama[/name_f] [name_f]Beryl[/name_f]
[name_f]Chaya[/name_f] [name_u]Lior[/name_u]
[name_f]Neta[/name_f] Margalit
[name_f]Pesha[/name_f] Liat
[name_f]Elisheva[/name_f] [name_f]Nomi[/name_f]
[name_u]Yael[/name_u] Tzipporah

I really love [name_f]Elisheva[/name_f] [name_u]Lior[/name_u] or Odeya [name_u]Lior[/name_u] as possible combos! I’ve never heard of Odeya before but it’s lovely.

I love this Jewish tradition, and it’s true that you’re lucky to get to name them twice

My favorite individual names from your list are Margalit, [name_f]Elisheva[/name_f] en Yocheved.

Some combos I like:

[name_f]Neta[/name_f] Odeya
[name_f]Elisheva[/name_f] [name_f]Nomi[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] Yocheved
[name_f]Nechama[/name_f] [name_u]Lior[/name_u]
