I have fallen in love with the name [name_u]Beck[/name_u] for my son and I feel like I might be the only one who likes it. Does anyone see what I see, or am I crazy?
Oh, and before you suggest it, the middle name for my son will be [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], so [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] is out. I also don’t really like [name_m]Beckham[/name_m]. I just like [name_u]Beck[/name_u] on it’s own. Our last name is 3 syllables, so I think a one-syllable name will work well with it.
Right now, we are between the names [name_u]Beck[/name_u] and [name_u]Carter[/name_u]. While I like [name_u]Carter[/name_u], I can’t help but feel like it’s not as interesting as [name_u]Beck[/name_u]. But maybe [name_u]Beck[/name_u] is too interesting?
I have never met a little [name_u]Beck[/name_u] but I can totally see it being a good modern “fits in/stands out” choice that would be unique but still sound right among his peers today. Definitely don’t think it is too…anything.
I say go for it especially since you said you [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this name. [name_m]How[/name_m] often does that happen? What a gift!
I get the image of a confident, active, fun little boy. I don’t think you’ll have any/many negative perception issues with this name.
So good to hear! I know it’s about finding a name we like, and we both really like [name_u]Beck[/name_u], but I worry that others will scratch their heads when they hear the name. This naming business is no joke!
I like it. Maybe because I’ve been familiar with the musician [name_u]Beck[/name_u] for decades now, but I wouldn’t think twice about seeing the name used. I don’t think it stands out in a “hmmm that’s an… interesting choice” kind of way.
[name_u]Carter[/name_u] is a fine name too, but for what it’s worth, I would be more pleased to meet a [name_u]Beck[/name_u] than another [name_u]Carter[/name_u].
Thank you so much for weighing in, guys! I posted fully prepared to hear lots of negative feedback, and my ego is fully prepared to hear it. That said, I’m pleasantly surprised that folks seem to like it.
I’ll be honest, I was listening to [name_u]Beck[/name_u] the musician one day, thought “hmm, I like this name,” and immediately got chills when envisioning it as my son’s name. It’s the only name that has had that effect on me so far. We have a couple of months to go, so we still have a little time to decide.
I also love [name_u]Beck[/name_u]! It sounds like one of those cool nickname names like [name_m]Will[/name_m] and [name_m]Ned[/name_m], and i associate it with a really cool and handsome character from a show I used to watch
[name_u]Beck[/name_u] is delightful! I actually prefer it to any of the longer versions I’ve heard. I’m liking [name_u]Carter[/name_u] more and more too these days, but I say go with your first choice!
I like [name_u]Beck[/name_u] and I like [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]. I’m personally not huge fan of the blow of [name_u]Beck[/name_u] [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] because of the double “eh” sound. That said, he’ll mostly just go by [name_u]Beck[/name_u] so it’s not a huge deal.
My cousin gave their child the middle name Beckford. I had never heard of this name before but I think it’s cool. If you and hubby aren’t too keen on having a short name on the birth certificate you could use Beckford and then just call him [name_u]Beck[/name_u]. I don’t see an issue with the name but hopefully kids won’t call him [name_f]Becky[/name_f] :-?
I would assume that [name_u]Beck[/name_u] was a nickname for [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] or another [name_u]Beck[/name_u]-/-beck name. I’m also not a fan of the flow of [name_u]Beck[/name_u] [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]. [name_u]Carter[/name_u] [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] sounds a bit nicer…I do like [name_u]Beck[/name_u] much, much more than [name_u]Carter[/name_u], though
