Beckett

[name]Beckett[/name] has been a front runner for our baby boy. We just can’t seem to commit though. I think the problem is that for me girls always had the fun, different names and boys were more traditional. I know times are changing, but I don’t want him picked on for his name later either. Does anyone have a son named [name]Beckett[/name]? If so, have you had good comments about it?

If you are able to use I definitely would. I absolutely love the name and our son was to be named [name]Beckett[/name] ( absolute fave for both me and dh)…until we found out baby was a girl. A few months after my daughter was born I had a friend name their baby [name]Beckett[/name] and its no longer useable for us. I’m still so sad about it esp now that we’re expecting again. I love the literary ties it has and the nicknames Becks or [name]Kit[/name]. If you’re worried about it not being traditional enough…well, look at all the boy names that are mashed up made up names. [name]Beckett[/name] is strong and sounds classic to me. Maybe encouraging other people to use it will be my therapy for getting over the name, lol.

Oh, that’s so good to hear. Haha, I do like your plan on helping others choose the the name so you can get over it. I did the same thing with [name]Isla[/name] after not using it. I had naming remorse. Does your friend get good feedback on [name]Beckett[/name]?

Yes she does, we are not close friends but have a lot of mutual close friends. I thought it would still be useable for us since we dont see the very often…until we all went camping together and everyone was oohing and ahhing over his name and saying ow much they like it and how unique etc etc. I did send her a message right after she had him telling her congrats and that that was the name we had picked out…my way of letting her know that if we do use it we weren’t copying her. I was bummed after he was named that but it was the camping trip that confirmed I couldn’t use it. Dh and I had a hard time w it! What name did you use instead of [name]Isla[/name]?
