Beckham?

My husband and I can’t agree on a boys name. I like [name_u]Blake[/name_u], [name_m]Weston[/name_m], [name_u]Easton[/name_u], [name_m]Grayson[/name_m], and [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], but he doesn’t like any of them. He suggested [name_u]Tennessee[/name_u] and I said no way! While looking at boys names, I stumbled upon [name_m]Beckham[/name_m]. My husband and I both played soccer in our younger years and are still fans of the sport. Surprisingly he actually likes it (because of the homage to [name_m]David[/name_m] of course)

Can [name_m]Beckham[/name_m] being taken seriously as a first name?

Any suggestions for a middle name? Our last name begins with an R and is 3 syllables.

[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] really is tied to [name_m]David[/name_m] and I think I would go straight to [name_u]Beck[/name_u] or [name_m]Becker[/name_m]. [name_m]Beckham[/name_m] is okay though.

[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_m]Slade[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_m]Marcus[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] (love [name_m]Brooks[/name_m], if you’re okay with double B’s)

What about [name_m]Beckett[/name_m]?

A friend used [name_m]Beckham[/name_m] for her little boy recently. I think as long as you’re fine with [name_m]David[/name_m] [name_m]Beckham[/name_m], it’s fine!

Yes, I definitely think it can be taken seriously as a first name. I think it has moved up the charts recently, so there are people who are using the name and it’s becoming more familiar as a first name. I love soccer, so I think the link to [name_m]David[/name_m] [name_m]Beckham[/name_m] is really cool.

For middle names, what kind of style are you looking for? I’ll throw out some ideas:

[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_m]Cole[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_m]Eli[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_u]Tate[/name_u]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_m]Holden[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_m]Zane[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_m]Dax[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m]/[name_m]Lucas[/name_m]

[name_m]Beckham[/name_m] is great!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it! My friend just used it recently as well.

I think it’s too tied to the celebrity - like calling your baby Streep or something like that.

[name_u]Beck[/name_u], [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] and [name_m]Becker[/name_m] are all similar sounding names with more history and less cultural baggage [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

I know a little boy named [name_m]Beckham[/name_m]. I don’t think his parents have gotten any comments about [name_m]David[/name_m], but I’m also in the southeastern US. We’re all about college football but soccer not so much.
