Our daughter is [name]Presley[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and we have another little girl on the way… I’m struggling to find a name I just love like I did the first time around, but the closest I’ve come so far is [name]Bellamy[/name] [name]Alice[/name] (middle name has special meaning). Anyways, I’ve gotten a lot of negative feedback from one particular family member who is convinced our new daughter would be teased incessantly and even called to tell me she had a ‘nightmare’ about it! I think it’s very cute and can stand on it’s own as a grown women’s name, but I’m starting to waiver! I could really use some feedback from you other Berries Thank you in advance- I’ve been thinking about posting this for quite awhile now.
hi mom_omg,
why would [name]Bellamy[/name] be teased? I suppose if you were really concerned you could nickname her [name]Bella[/name] or [name]Belle[/name].
I think the person who claims that she’d be teased just personally dislikes the name themselves and is trying to dissuade you from using it.
However, if you like it, then go for it.
Have a happy and healthy pregnancy!
c’smom
I like it, and I think it goes with [name]Presley[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. She will probably end up being called [name]Bella[/name] though (one way or another).
I would’t worry about it. If you love the name, go for it. I don’t see any obvious reason for teasing, but even the most common names can be teased. As an [name]Amanda[/name], I got this a lot in elementary school: “You’re a man… Duh!” But that didn’t cause any long lasting ill effects on me, and I was NEVER teased in high school. Also, I think [name]Bellamy[/name] is so cute with [name]Presley[/name]!
Congrats and good luck!
I love [name]Bellamy[/name]. I know a woman named [name]Bellamy[/name] who recently started training for the police, so obviously it works fine for her, and as far as I’m aware, she was never teased. It has a lot of pleasing sounds and good nickname potential. The [name]Bellamy[/name] I know goes by Belly, but there’s also [name]Belle[/name], [name]Bella[/name], and [name]Amy[/name].
I like it. Use it if you love it!
I love [name]Bellamy[/name]. I don’t see anything wrong with it at all. You could call her [name]Belle[/name] or [name]Bella[/name]! Adorable. [name]Don[/name]'t listen to anyone elses opinions, all that matters is if you love it!!
[name]Bellamy[/name] is a street name where I live so although I personally wouldn’t use it myself I don’t think it’s a bad name. [name]Presley[/name] and [name]Bellamy[/name] are are little matchy in sound but they’re the same style so they work together. You may also like Bonamy and Caromy.
With all the Isabellas I think a [name]Bellamy[/name] will fit right in.
Thank you all so much for the feedback! I really appreciate it.
There was a teacher and his last name was [name]Bellamy[/name], so all I can think of is him with this nam. But how about something like [name]Arabella[/name]?
I love [name]Bellamy[/name] [name]Alice[/name] and the nn of [name]Belle[/name] is perfect. Relatives have their own ideas but it is your baby so go with the name you love the most.
rollo
[name]Bellamy[/name] with [name]Presley[/name] is just fabulous.
I have to say, I have some weird connotation with [name]Bellamy[/name], and so do most people my age…it was the name of a rabbit or something (?) on a tv show when we were kids. In Australia, 1980s? Honestly can’t remember, I just know that I find it hard to think of [name]Bellamy[/name] as a person’s name. But when I do, I think it’s lovely!
Your ‘bel ami’ is your male lover/boy toy so to me it makes no sense on girl. But it’s uncommon; most people just see “[name]Bella[/name]” and don’t know the meaning. The only teasing she’d get is if she encountered people that know some French
I know my French and ‘bel’ ‘ami’ and it says beautiful friend and anyway [name]Bellamy[/name] has the word [name]Bella[/name] in it so for me it is irrelevant. I am positive there would be no teasing.
rollo
[name]Bel[/name] is masculine. [name]Belle[/name] is feminine. [name]Bel[/name] ami is handsome friend, the term refers to a man. [name]Bel[/name] ami was anglicized into the surname [name]Bellamy[/name].
If it were feminine it would be belle amie
When I see [name]Bellamy[/name] I think of actress [name]Bellamy[/name] [name]Young[/name], whose birth name is actually [name]Amy[/name]. She graduated from [name]Yale[/name], studied at [name]Oxford[/name], acted on Broadway and now plays the First Lady on the ABC drama “Scandal.” So it’s safe to say that the name has served her well!
Agreed. [name]Bellamy[/name] [name]Alice[/name] sounds like ‘[name]Bellamy[/name], [name]Alice[/name]’ to me. Like someone’s saying her last name before her first name.
[name]Bellamy[/name] [name]Alice[/name] is darling and a perfect match for [name]Presley[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name].
YOU name YOUR daughter a name YOU love! Nightmare lady can just get over it.
[name]Bellamy[/name] is all BOY to me. I think of the [name]Bellamy[/name] brothers. [name]Don[/name]'t like it for a girl at all.
