I actually prefer [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] on a boy than on a girl. [name_f]My[/name_f] strongest association for the name is the Pirate [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] aka “[name_m]Black[/name_m] [name_u]Sam[/name_u]”. Which just feels very masculine to me. I think [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] fit in nicely with the sur-name trend - and I tend to prefer those on boys and therefore works well.
[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] is all boy to me, because of this hilarious show ([name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]'s People), with this really funny guy called [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]. Because of that I find it difficult to take seriously, but [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] would be a pretty cool middle. It would probably appeal to me a bit more if I didn’t have that association, as it’s got a similar sound to [name_m]Ptolemy[/name_m], which I love.
I know a boy named [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] but they don’t have a nn for him, and some of his teachers/people have taken to calling him [name_u]Bell[/name_u] which he hates, and the parents hate.
On the other hand, I know a [name_m]Bellamie[/name_m] (girl) who goes by [name_f]Bella[/name_f]. This is cute.
As a whole name though, I like [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] better for a boy
If its a middle name, you wouldn’t have the nn conundrum anyways!
Thank you for your thoughts, Berries!
I think [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] is just too different to be a first name on my list. Probably a middle, like I said, [name_m]Otis[/name_m] ___ [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u].
