Bellamy

I have been looking through my family tree for inspiration and I found out that my granny’s maiden name is [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]. I kind of love it! My grandmother is called [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] (side note - what were her parents thinking calling her [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]?!) and whilst I think it’s a nice name I don’t really feel like [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is my cup of tea whereas [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] is!

What are your thoughts?

[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] is alright, it just doesn’t wow me? I see it mentioned quite often on Nameberry but it’s just never had any appeal for me.

It does fit in perfectly with many popular girls names right now - [name_u]Harper[/name_u], [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], [name_u]Riley[/name_u], [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u], [name_u]Brinley[/name_u], [name_f]Kinsley[/name_f], etc. so I think it works, it’s just not for me.

However I think family significance trumps any stranger’s input off the internet, so if it’s meaningful for you, I’d use it.

Sounds like a great choice for you!

I love the name–and the family connection makes it that much more perfect. I would agree that it is one of my favorite genuinely unisex names. It also has great feminine nickname options.

I like the name, and love the family significance. It feels like an updated [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] to me, similar to [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]-[name_u]Juniper[/name_u].

I like both [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] and [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], and the family significance to both names make them even better.

I have been a huge fan of [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] for years now, and though my love has waned a tad recently, I still will shamelessly promote the name to others. I think it has such a lovely, lilting sound that carries all the beauty of the [name_u]Bell[/name_u]- family without the trite variations we all hear so often ([name_f]Bella[/name_f], [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]). [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] has a lovely meaning and a relatively straightforward spelling and pronunciation, making it a golden choice for functionality.

I think it has a lot of charm, and I would expect anyone who names their daughter [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] to have no regrets down the road (nor would I expect regrets from [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] herself)

I love the name [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]! I would love to name a future son that someday, but only because I first heard the name on a male character that I love a lot.
I think, as previously said, [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] is completely Unisex and I could see it on any gender.
I also love the family connection!

I have always liked [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] and love the family connection!

I love [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u], but on a boy. I don’t really care for it on a girl.

I think [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] is an absolutely beautiful girl’s name. It’s definitely more girl than boy.
I also love that it is tied to your family tree.

Maybe as a middle name.

If it comes from the novel [name_f]Bel[/name_f]-[name_f]Ami[/name_f], it is then masculine. But with the spelling [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u], it feels unisex.

I love it on a boy, I don’t really like it on a girl.

The more I say it, the ore I really like it. It’s a great, truly unisex name and there is some nice, simple nickname potential ([name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_f]Amy[/name_f]) if she ever prefers something a little more conventional. Plus, I thin the family meaning really adds a level of importance and depth that makes it perfect.
