Belle and Eleanor

hi berries,

for a girl, eleanor is close to the top of my list.
however, a close family member recently welcomed her little girl, belle. :heartpulse:

are belle and eleanor too close in sound? I’ve been repeating in my head, “belle and eleanor, belle and eleanor…” do they run into each other a bit with the repeating ‘el’? i am not wanting to choose something that is too close to belle’s lovely name.

is eleanor can still a possible option for a future daughter’s name? or if it would be best to choose another name instead?

bonus: any name suggestions that you’d suggest in eleanor’s place? :white_heart:

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is a beautiful name! I don’t think it’s too close to [name_f]Belle[/name_f] at all. Go for it!

I don’t think they’re too close! Especially as they wouldn’t be sisters.

[name_m]Even[/name_m] then, I know a few families with multiple daughters who have strong “ell” sounds in their names and it’s never been an issue.

i think belle and eleanor are perfectly usable together! they are not siblings, so in all honesty, it doesn’t matter to me. go ahead and use eleanor, i think it’s totally alright!!

but some names with similar vibes if you still are feeling a little icky about it…

Go with the name you want to name your child / future adult person.

I don’t think they’re close. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if they were, I would say: people move away, relocate, have falling outs. You never know–Belle could announce they want to be called only [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] or [name_u]Henry[/name_u] or [name_u]Jack[/name_u].

The point being, everything else is outside your control and secondary to going with a name you want to gove to your daughter.

Congrats on the baby !

Definitely not too close, as they are not siblings.

Since they’re not siblings, I think it’s fine! So long as you don’t call her [name_f]Elle[/name_f] when they’re together!!

A couple of other names, just in case:

[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
Lenora/Leonora
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]

Not too close at all! [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is lovely.
