Benedict

[name]Benedict[/name] has rapidly become one of my favorite boys names. I think more of the Shakespearean character, rather than the American traitor (who I only learned about because [name]Peter[/name] [name]Brady[/name] played him in the school play.) But I can’t think of any suitable middle names that aren’t fillers!
What middle names can you think of that go well with [name]Benedict[/name]? And does [name]Benedict[/name] go with the other names in my signature?
Thanks in advance!

I also love [name]Benedict[/name]! I think it goes with the other names in your signature too! Some mn options:

[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Gray[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]West[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]James[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Jude[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Asher[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Charles[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Grant[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Lee[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Tate[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Poe[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Seth[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]North[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Vaughn[/name]

@laurenliz- thanks so much for the reply! I love [name]Benedict[/name] [name]Jude[/name], [name]Benedict[/name] [name]Poe[/name], and [name]Benedict[/name] [name]Grant[/name]! Great ideas, thanks!

Question: Does anybody think of the former pope, Pope [name]Benedict[/name] XVI? I thought of him a little after posting the question.

I don’t think of anyone when I hear [name]Benedict[/name]. I think it’s common enough to not be tied to one person, like [name]Adolf[/name] or [name]Rihanna[/name] are. And it fits in well with your other names

Suggestions:

[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Daniel[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Caspian[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Hugh[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Paul[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Gregor[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Edgar[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Inigo[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Jago[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Harry[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Oscar[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Leonardo[/name]

I think [name]Benedict[/name] is quite handsome and distinguished. I think of the saint, the former Pope, the Shakespearean character and Mr [name]Arnold[/name] but there really isn’t one main association (I’m Canadian so the traitor isn’t a concern). That’s the beauty of [name]Benedict[/name]: its versatility. Since you already have lots of great mn suggestions from previous posters, I will make some sibsets.

Issues

[name]Benedict[/name] and [name]Frederick[/name] - too matchy so only one can be used for a first name
[name]Benedict[/name] and [name]Albert[/name] - both end in a “t”
[name]Benedict[/name] and [name]Victor[/name] - both have “ick” sounds
[name]Benedict[/name] and [name]Beatrix[/name] - share an initial

Sibset Suggestions

All Boys:

[name]Alistair[/name], [name]Benedict[/name], [name]Leopold[/name] and [name]Crispin[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name], [name]Phineas[/name] and [name]Edmund[/name]

Mix of Boys and Girls:

[name]Benedict[/name], [name]Crispin[/name], [name]Edith[/name] and [name]Sybil[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name], [name]Agnes[/name], [name]Louisa[/name] and [name]Percival[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name], [name]Edmund[/name] and [name]Dorothea[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] nn [name]Ben[/name], [name]Flora[/name] and [name]Jane[/name]

My next door neighbor has a son named [name]Benedict[/name] (goes mostly by [name]Ben[/name]). That’s what I thought of. They are Catholic, so I am sure it is the papal connection there. It is a great name!

I love [name]Benedict[/name]. It’s very stately, but easily made more down-to-earth with [name]Ben[/name] or [name]Benny[/name] (if you choose). [name]Benedict[/name] Cumberbatch is one of my favorite actors; that’s my main association with the name. I have a hard time not pairing it with something Biblical or classic. Since it’s such a strong name, I think something softer like [name]Benedict[/name] [name]Elijah[/name] or [name]Benedict[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name] is best.

Haha yeah, I think of the actor first too. Then the pope.

Yep, I think of [name]Benedict[/name] Cumberbatch first
Then of the pope. I didn’t remember the traitor until you mentioned it, though for some people that might be a more prevalent association.
I agree with pp’s that none of the associations are strong enough to really be a problem.

I like [name]Benedict[/name] [name]Wesley[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Silas[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Jasper[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Phillip[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Hale[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Lance[/name]
[name]Benedict[/name] [name]Jove[/name] or [name]Job[/name]

I really love the suggestion of [name]Benedict[/name] [name]Jude[/name].

Pulling from your signature, I like [name]Benedict[/name] [name]Cyril[/name]. I like the name, and Mr. Cumberbatch certainly helps the case, but I will never recover from his unfortunate traitorous association.
