So, my husband and I talked names, and he decided he wants to go with [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] (The name we had picked out if my daughter had been a boy). Does the “T” ending of both names bother you? We are considering:
I would avoid a name ending in T if you already have a child with a first name ending in T.
It would be way too matchy for my taste.
I love the name [name_m]Bennett[/name_m].
if you like [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]:
[name_m]Walter[/name_m], [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] are fine with [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], but I wouldn’t settle for just fine.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] not use a name unless you absolutely both love it.
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] flows well.
or:
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m] and ___ ( middles spencer, [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], or [name_m]Walter[/name_m])
[name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] [name_u]Spencer[/name_u], [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] [name_m]Walter[/name_m], and [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] all work …to me at least
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] and [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] [name_m]Walter[/name_m] are also options
[name_m]Landon[/name_m] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], [name_m]Greyson[/name_m] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], and [name_m]Tobin[/name_m] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]
[name_u]Channing[/name_u] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] or [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] [name_m]Walter[/name_m]

I do not think it is an issue having siblings named [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] and [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]. They are actually very nice together. I think people on naming boards can get too overly concerned about matching. My family (while I was growing up) had 3 out of 4 with the same ending letter. No one ever made any statements about it. I think most people never even noticed. Now if you were asking about [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] and [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] I would feel that is a bit too matchy. I prefer [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] from your combos.
It’s a bit matchy, but it doesn’t bother me so much when the names are different syllables. Clearly something like [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] would be a different story.
Sometimes I wonder though, what exactly is the reasoning behind the whole trend against similar endings? is it just for variety?? My son’s name ends in -n, so it could be very limiting if I went along with that. I personally do not see anything wrong with (hypothetical) brothers [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], for example… but now I’m on a tangent about myself.
Of your combos, I like [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] and [name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] best.
I love both names, they’re absolutely fantastic, but would be too matchy for me.
And whilst both have at least two correct spellings, I find that [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] looks incomplete next to the full-blown [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], since both have double letters in the middle and only Bennett has two Ts. The unmatched endings might even lead to confusion sometimes. However [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] (sp) and [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] would be even more matchy.
I think [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] and [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] are lovely together. I agree that sometimes people seem a bit too concerned with matching – names with the same last letter, names with the same first letter, etc. I can see how names that match too closely or rhyme won’t work, but just having the same last letter really does not seem to be a big deal. Highly unlikely that anyone in real life would even notice
I really like [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]Spencer[/name_u].
Despite the same ending, I like [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] and [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] together. [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] is my favorite combo.
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] is my husband’s pick! The fact that he actually discussed names is a true miracle! He has been in shock that we are expecting again. Since I love the name too, that is probably what we will go with (If it is a boy).
