Berries in their 20s!

I started a thread like this a few years ago. Shall we try again?

Older berries are welcome to join in as well.

[name_f]Sofia[/name_f] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f], I feel you. I’m a recent college grad, still looking for a job, still living with my parents. I have plans to move out at the end of the year, so at least there’s that. Your 20s are a chaotic time for sure.

I turned 20 back in [name_f]May[/name_f] and I still feel weird telling people my age! Idk going from 19 to 20 feels like such a big leap compared to going from 18 to 19. I thought I’d feel older but I’m constantly playing a game of like “am I 12 or 20?” and it’s just a weird place to be in.

It’s so weird - one moment i feel like I’m doing ‘adult’ things, but most of the time I still feel like a kid!

[name_m]How[/name_m] has everyone’s day been?

@[name_f]Grace[/name_f] pretty good. I had an interview for a part-time job today. It’s working with dogs so I’m hoping I get it. What about you?

Sounds exciting!! Good luck!!

It’s been an alright day. I’m mostly just working on my final dissertation for uni atm

Congratulations on making it this far! What’s your dissertation on?

The thread is back! Yay!

As of how my day was, I spent the night at a friend’s place because we had an 8 a.m. exam and it usually takes me 90 mins to get to the campus, if the trains are in my favour, that is, so I had no other way of making sure I’d get there in time. Exam went alright, but I didn’t get too much sleep and was tired all day. After failing to study for my next exam (another 8 a.m., yay) I visited my local NaNoWriMo group. I finished revising last [name_u]November[/name_u]'s project a few days ago and today finally gave out digital copies for them to read. Gotta admit, I’m a little nervous. I’ve never finished a book before!

@[name_u]Abby[/name_u], I know that feeling of not knowing your age. At almost 24, I’m older than most of my classmates, yet I totally feel like I blend in, except for that I have … done more stuff? Like had a job? At the same time I plan to get married and have a kid soon-ish, but can’t really imagine it. No way I’ll be 25 and still not a parent, but no way I’ll have a child by next year, either! Weird.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]

Iam [name_f]Vasiliki[/name_f] or [name_f]Belle[/name_f] (whatever you prefer, I don’t mind), 22, and I will graduate from university in [name_f]September[/name_f] (yay). I feel completely lost on what to do after that. I should be happy for my graduation but instead Iam very anxious.
Looking forward to this thread!

@[name_f]Vasiliki[/name_f] I’ve graduated and still don’t know what I want to do. You aren’t the only one.

Lol so, I’m [name_u]Haley[/name_u], and I’m verging on my mid-twenties (24 in [name_f]October[/name_f] - ew) and still living at home.

I graduated college with a diploma/degree (schooling in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] is v different I’ve learned??) in Journalism (Print & Multimedia) two years ago, and can’t seem to find a job unless I relocate and have 7+ years experience, lol.

Because of that I’m returning to school in [name_f]September[/name_f] for a two year course in [name_u]Early[/name_u] Childhood [name_m]Ed[/name_m]. I’m honestly scared I’ll end up being the oldest person in my class lol.

[name_f]Larissa[/name_f] here, 22 years old.
Also stumbling along in the strange land of twenty-somethingness. I recently graduated college with a degree in animal science but finding a job is proving to be…challenging.

[name_f]Glad[/name_f] to see some familiar usernames here, I feel like I haven’t been on NB in a while.

@southern.maple thank you!! I’m writing about [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] Brontë’s [name_f]Villette[/name_f]!!

@wandarine i hope your next exam goes well!
What sort of novels/writing do you do?

@bellerose hi!! I’m graduating in septemeber too (hopefully) and it’s a weird time - i know what yiu mean about it being exciting but nervewracking too. What are you studying at uni?

@leafsgirl44 hi! I hope your new course goes well!! I’m sure you won’t be the oldest- there’s been people of all different ages on my course

@larkub101 hi! I hope the job search gets better. Not looking forward to starting that tbh

@greyblue so do I! It’s calculus and I really, really don’t want to do it again.
The book is coming-of-age urban fantasy, and probably the first of a series, if I can motivate myself to plot and write another. My first NaNo project was a near future dystopia, also coming-of-age, but I changed my mind about that one so many times I’m not sure I’ll ever finish it.

It’s amazing to see how many posters here are done (or almost done) with their degree! I feel a little out of sync, but that’s kind of my fault for starting so late.

Anyway, what do you all do when you’re not studying? I got really into crafting over the last years, I crochet and hope to learn some knitting soon. I love the creative aspect and already have more patterns in mind than I can ever hope to use

[name_f]Grace[/name_f]: I was studying Political [name_m]Science[/name_m] and [name_m]History[/name_m].

@[name_f]Grace[/name_f] I’ve read [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eyre[/name_f] and Wuthering Heights but no other [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] works sadly. Classic literature hasn’t clicked with me in a while. I’ve only been able to get into fantasy and scifi.

@[name_f]Wanda[/name_f] I love to read. My boyfriend and I started hiking together earlier this year and I really enjoy that too. Right now it’s way too hot here for anything outside unless it’s in the water. I’ve been wishing I could escape to a cooler climate, but alas… no money.

Thanks [name_f]Grace[/name_f]! I’m hoping you’re right!!

Since I’m not currently studying, I’m working full-time, but when I’ve got time off, I’m usually watching TV/YouTube (I tend to get sucked in by the top 10 lists and Good Mythical [name_f]Morning[/name_f]). The top 10 list binge has kinda come in handy though, because S/O and I go to a trivia night at a local sports bar every [name_f]Monday[/name_f] night with my cousin, her S/O and my younger sister. We’ve been going solidly for 7 months now, and we never miss a night! It’s kinda become our thing - my cousin and I have always been super close, our S/Os have become good friends and my younger sister and I don’t often get to spend time together because she’s away at school lol.

From [name_f]September[/name_f] to [name_u]June[/name_u] though, it’s hockey season - S/O plays in a couple of beer leagues, and we often go to see our local AHL team play at least once a month. We also go to a Toronto [name_f]Maple[/name_f] Leafs exhibition game every year at the end of [name_f]September[/name_f]. It’s the only way we can really afford tickets, because regular season starts anywhere from $180-300 for standing room “seats” where you have a better view at home.

So, since we’re all mid-late 90s babies (for the most part??), what are your favourite bands/artists from the 1990s/2000s? It’s kinda my obsession still (I’m actually seeing the Backstreet Boys tonight and I’ve waited 20 years for this moment, lmao my inner kindergartener is fangirling), so I’m always curious.

Mine were/are Backstreet Boys, [name_f]Britney[/name_f] Spears, [name_u]Hilary[/name_u] [name_u]Duff[/name_u], [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] [name_u]Carter[/name_u], Blink-182, Matchbox Twenty, LFO and 98 Degrees.

@[name_u]Haley[/name_u] Does discovering my parents’ old [name_f]Nirvana[/name_f] CDs at the height of my emo phase in middle school count toward this question? LOL I discovered grunge when I was 13-14. I still like [name_f]Nirvana[/name_f], Smashing Pumpkins, [name_m]Bush[/name_m], things like that. I have to be in the mood for the pop music - [name_f]Britney[/name_f] Spears, Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, etc. [name_f]Every[/name_f] time I hear a Blink 182 song I’m transported back to my days of chronic angst as I browsed Hot Topic for studded belts and My Chemical Romance t-shirts. xD
