Berry Court: Edwin Apollo

Okay, I know that I am terribly late to this bandwagon, but hey, better late than never. I’ll probably do another one of these for my girl names.

[name_m]Edwin[/name_m] is one of my dearest names, and one that I have been completed obsessed with. His vintage charm coupled with Apollo’s modern flair is perfect, and an exemplar for my style. As for a brother, I am not quite sure. I swing from one branch to another in hopes of finding the one. Berries, cast your judgement and name his brother!

[name_u]Arthur[/name_u] [name_m]Hyperion[/name_m]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Jupiter[/name_u]
[name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] [name_m]Pollux[/name_m]
[name_m]Astrophel[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Cygnus[/name_m] [name_m]Benedict[/name_m]
[name_m]Theseus[/name_m] [name_u]Loki[/name_u]
[name_m]Helios[/name_m] [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u]
[name_u]Mercury[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Arcturus[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] / [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Arcturus[/name_m]

Thank you! I know some of these (or all of them) are somewhat out-there, but I think they are marvellous enough.

[name_m]Edwin[/name_m] is warm, friendly, and familiar. His brother’s name should be too. I think [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] fit that best. And [name_m]Apollo[/name_m], like [name_m]Hyperion[/name_m] is Greek, while [name_u]Jupiter[/name_u] is [name_m]Roman[/name_m]. So that leaves [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] [name_m]Hyperion[/name_m].

i agree, i think thomas hyperion fits best! edwin and thomas have the same vibes for me, and although hyperion feels a bit more out-there, the fact that it is greek like apollo definitely makes it fit perfectly! these are all stunning combos!!

[name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] is delightful!

It has charming balance - the vintage, handsome [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] - sleek and slightly regal, familiar but not overused, a hint of flair but solid - with the fresh, bold [name_m]Apollo[/name_m], with it’s mythological vibe and stylish coolness work great!

In which I ramble for a long time to reach an answer:

Given the formula of [vintage/classic] + [modern/mythological], something with a similar pattern feels like the obvious solution.

That gives you:

[name_u]Arthur[/name_u] [name_m]Hyperion[/name_m]

[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Jupiter[/name_u]

[name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] [name_m]Pollux[/name_m]

Of these three, I especially like [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] [name_m]Hyperion[/name_m].
[name_u]Arthur[/name_u] has that mythological feel, while also being classic, regal, rugged and handsome - but, still fresh enough due to it’s recent resurgence in use. It’s more popular than [name_m]Edwin[/name_m], but they feel cohesive anyway, and that’s helped by the greater flair/unusualness of [name_m]Hyperion[/name_m]. It’s bold, powerful and distinctive, and though rarer than [name_m]Apollo[/name_m], it has the same feel and seems easy enough to say.

[name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] [name_m]Pollux[/name_m] would be my next pick. It’s got sophistication, and a more distinctive sound, feels powerful and modern, balanced and starry. It could sit by and hold its own next to [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] - and it’s kind of fun they share the ‘poll’ sound.

[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Jupiter[/name_u] is nice too, a solid choice. It feels slightly poetic and gives off the colours orange and red for some reason. Still, [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] just doesn’t have the same shine as [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] for me, personally.

However, there are some more ‘wildcard’ options that I’ll speak for:

[name_m]Theseus[/name_m] [name_u]Loki[/name_u] → [name_m]Theseus[/name_m] has grandeur, distinctiveness and power, and while obviously less known than [name_m]Edwin[/name_m], it sounds similar enough to more ‘familiar’ names (Theodore, [name_u]Thaddeus[/name_u], [name_u]Elias[/name_u], Silas) to work, but also the two together give me the vibe of literary sibsets (and Victorian upper class sibsets in general) - like [name_u]Jack[/name_u] and [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] and [name_u]Henry[/name_u], [name_m]Osborne[/name_m] and [name_m]Roger[/name_m], [name_u]Joan[/name_u] and [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f], [name_u]Vyvyan[/name_u] and [name_m]Cyril[/name_m], Ethelberta, [name_f]Picotee[/name_f], [name_f]Gwendoline[/name_f], [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f], [name_u]Sol[/name_u] and [name_m]Dan[/name_m] etc. [name_u]Loki[/name_u] has the same modern flair as [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] and works well here!

[name_m]Cygnus[/name_m] [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] → [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] has the sophisticated, familiar-but-distinct vibe of Edwin; [name_m]Cygnus[/name_m] adds a starry, powerful vibe. Like [name_m]Theseus[/name_m], it sounds/looks enough like other more popular names that it doesn’t sound completely out there. Plus, nn [name_u]Gus[/name_u]. [name_u]Gus[/name_u] and [name_u]Win[/name_u]!

[name_m]Arcturus[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] → without repeating myself, [name_m]Arcturus[/name_m] has that same balance of being similar to more known names (Arthur, [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], Archie), but is very much its own name too. [name_u]Finn[/name_u] feels grounded but contemporary!

I think [name_m]Arcturus[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] is probably my favourite here!

So, all that to say, I think you’ve got two ways you could go:

[name_u]Arthur[/name_u] [name_m]Hyperion[/name_m] → the more ‘expected’ choice - gives you that balance, the vintage charm with a modern, starry twist!

or

[name_m]Arcturus[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] → the ‘less expected’ choice - gives you the mismatched-but-works vibe, shares similar qualities to [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_m]Apollo[/name_m], and also doesn’t entirely ‘lock you in’ to any pattern/style if you were to add another child.

What to go with then?

Ultimately, [name_m]Arcturus[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] wins for me - [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] and [name_m]Arcturus[/name_m]. [name_m]Arcturus[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_m]Apollo[/name_m]. [name_u]Win[/name_u] and [name_m]Art[/name_m]? [name_u]Artie[/name_u] and [name_m]Eddy[/name_m]? [name_m]Archie[/name_m] and and [name_u]Eddie[/name_u]? Together, they feel most representative of your tastes and style

[name_m]Astrophel[/name_m] James!!! I’ve met two people with similar names to the combo in question and their siblings have always had flamboyant yet strong names. Plus they just sound cool together! [name_u]Mercury[/name_u] would be my second choice

I would go with [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] and…

[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Jupiter[/name_u]!!

[name_m]Edwin[/name_m] and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] are a perfect, soft pair. They’re both well-established and smart-sounding, while still being sweet and charming!!

I love the MNs [name_u]Jupiter[/name_u] and [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] due to their subtle astrology and mythological connections. [name_u]Jupiter[/name_u] and [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] are both strong and powerful, while retaining cool mythology in their own right!!

Overall, they are super cute together!!
