I’m putting two questions into one post here.
First, I love the nickname [name_u]Berry[/name_u] (this spelling only), for a boy or girl, although I do prefer it slightly for a girl. So I am looking for full name ideas for the nickname [name_u]Berry[/name_u]. What I’ve come up with so far that I like, just to give you an idea of the style of names I’d go for-
[name_u]Auberon[/name_u]/[name_u]Oberon[/name_u]
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f]
[name_f]September[/name_f]/[name_f]October[/name_f]/[name_u]November[/name_u]
Second question is related to the name [name_u]Berry[/name_u]. Roseberry. Is it a real name or did I just put two of my favourite words/plants/honour names together and come up with it? I really love it, because as I mentioned most importantly [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_u]Berry[/name_u] are honour names, roses are my favourite flower, any kind of berries are my favourite fruit, and together they sound so fun and happy. I’d only ever use Roseberry in the middle spot (if I could even get it past my DH that far!). So, what do you think of Roseberry?
I think that any name containing ‘ber’ could work. I found some names on the Nameberry database that could work (some being a little more adventurous):
[name_u]Aberdeen[/name_u]
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]
[name_m]Bradberry[/name_m]
[name_f]Camberry[/name_f]
[name_m]Cuthbert[/name_m]
[name_m]Huckleberry[/name_m]
[name_f]Iberia[/name_f]
[name_f]Remember[/name_f]
[name_m]Wilber[/name_m]
Alternatively, you could use a name that has a meaning relating to berry:
[name_u]Aeron[/name_u] - [name_u]Berry[/name_u]
[name_m]Fraser[/name_m] - [name_f]Strawberry[/name_f]
[name_f]Malina[/name_f] - Raspberry
[name_f]Marja[/name_f] - [name_u]Berry[/name_u]
[name_f]Mora[/name_f] - Blueberry
As for Roseberry, it is actually a real word! I Googled it and Roseberry Topping is a hill in [name_u]North[/name_u] Yorkshire, [name_f]England[/name_f]. It’s very pretty and has some great connotations but is probably best in the middle spot as a way to lighten up a combo but not encourage teasing. I think I could definitely warm up to Roseberry!
It’s not really a real name, I had also put the names together in the past and researched if it’s real or not, but the closest it came to be real is the above mentioned hill (but by that standard really anything would be a real name).
There’s a third option, perhaps. There are names that mean “berry.” You could possibly use that as a nickname.
[name_u]Aeron[/name_u]/Aerona–berry
Jagoda–strawberry, berry
[name_f]Marja[/name_f] (mar-yuh)–berry
Afanen–raspberry
[name_f]Aeronwy[/name_f]–berry river
[name_f]Aeronwen[/name_f]–white, fair, blessed berry
Makvala–blackberry
[name_f]Malina[/name_f]–raspberry
Bramble relates to both roses and blackberries.
