I have been creating a lot of threads about twin names lately, but I need your thoughts on these.
[name_f]Bertha[/name_f] & [name_f]Nera[/name_f]? Cool or awful?
I love [name_f]Nera[/name_f]! It has such a lovely meaning and has been on my list for years. However, I don’t think it matches that well with [name_f]Bertha[/name_f]. [name_f]Bertha[/name_f] feels older and bulkier, whereas [name_f]Nera[/name_f] is more direct and modern feeling, though it is technically an older name as well.
Personally I don’t like [name_f]Bertha[/name_f], it just doesn’t appeal to me. [name_f]Nera[/name_f] is sweet.
As twin/sibling names they’re alright, but I feel they’re so stylistically different that they don’t quite fit together. Sot they’re not awful for twins, but they’re not amazing for siblings in general.
I like how they sound together, but I agree with the previous posters that they’re stylistically a little too different.
Maybe [name_f]Bertha[/name_f] and [name_f]Nell[/name_f](a) or [name_f]Nera[/name_f] and [name_f]Brynja[/name_f]/Brynn?
I like [name_f]Nera[/name_f] but [name_f]Bertha[/name_f] just feels dusty and heavy in comparison. [name_f]Nera[/name_f] and [name_f]Betsy[/name_f]? [name_f]Nera[/name_f] and [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]?
Agree with the others re difference in style and the heaviness of [name_f]Bertha[/name_f]. [name_f]Nera[/name_f] is so gorgeous, [name_f]Bertha[/name_f] feels like she’d be getting the short end of the stick. Maybe save it for a middle? [name_u]Or[/name_u] something that’s similar but closer to [name_f]Nera[/name_f] in style - love @Greyblue’s suggestion of [name_f]Betsy[/name_f]! Could also try [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]
I like the Spanish pronunciation of [name_f]Bertha[/name_f] (almost like bear-ta) that I’ve seen spelled [name_f]Bertha[/name_f] or [name_f]Berta[/name_f]. I associated with activist [name_f]Berta[/name_f] Cáceres so that’s a plus for me. In [name_f]English[/name_f], [name_f]Bertha[/name_f] does have a more clunky vintage sound, and [name_f]Nera[/name_f] comes off as cool and futuristic to me.
Seems like [name_f]Bertha[/name_f] belongs somwhere else. I can agree that [name_f]Nera[/name_f] probably fits best with another name
Between cool and awful, I have to go with the latter choice, sorry! Eep
I kind of hate how “berth” and “ner” don’t have the same pronunciation too. Therecs something about wide-berth / big bertha that I can’t unhear with [name_f]Bertha[/name_f], too.
