Och, so hard to decide! [name_u]Avery[/name_u] is one of my favorite names (and one of my favorite family names!) and it just holds so much goodness and heart for me, but [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] was my utter favorite boys’ name a couple years ago, and I lovelovelove the nn [name_m]Ben[/name_m]. In the end, [name_u]Avery[/name_u] wins out for me, but I’d also love to see [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]Avery[/name_u] or [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]Avery[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u].
Good luck!
Hubs has mentioned [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]Avery[/name_u]. Hasn’t gone as far as to say [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]Avery[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u].
I’m really, really loving [name_u]Avery[/name_u]. I’m OK with [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], but not crazy about it. Like something is just kind of… off about it. But it’s hubby’s #1. Sighs oh the decisions.
I voted [name_u]Avery[/name_u]. As much as I love [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], it’s very bland when paired with [name_u]James[/name_u].
I voted for [name_u]Avery[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u].
Nearly 50% though! Please explain some reasoning those of you going [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]!
I’m so jealous! [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] is my #1 and my husband can’t stand it
Needless to say, I prefer [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]. [name_u]Avery[/name_u] sounds a little feminine to me.
I chose [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]. Obviously, I’m biased! I like the way the name suits both little boys and grown men, and all of the nickname possibilities.
I’m not really a fan of the name [name_u]Avery[/name_u] – bad association with a guy I went through school with, and now it seems to be more commonly used for girls (which may or may not bother you). I do like the combo of [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]Avery[/name_u] that someone suggested.
I like both, but I chose [name_u]Avery[/name_u] only because of the repeated ‘jam’ in [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]. You could nickname him [name_m]Jamin[/name_m]’ [name_u]James[/name_u].
I also really like [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]Avery[/name_u].
[name_m]Both[/name_m] combos have issues with similar sounds: [name_u]Avery[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] has the “ay” and [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] has the “jam”. Depends on what floats your boat the most. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you want to take a bold leapt and go unisex (although [name_u]Avery[/name_u] is mostly female now in the US) or do you want to play it safe and choose [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]? It’s your call.
I voted for [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]! It’s so handsome and the nickname [name_m]Ben[/name_m] is adorable. I love [name_u]Avery[/name_u], but I prefer it on girls. One of my mom’s best friends in college was a girl named [name_u]Avery[/name_u]. [name_u]Avery[/name_u] was her mother’s maiden name. She was really upset when [name_u]Murphy[/name_u] [name_m]Brown[/name_m] named her son [name_u]Avery[/name_u], because she thought it was going to get popular, haha. Anyway, this [name_u]Avery[/name_u] has made the name all girl to me.
Thanks everyone! And special thanks to those that pointed out the “[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]” similar sounds. Somehow, [name_u]Avery[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] doesn’t rub me the wrong way like that, but I do think the [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] similar sound is very much the problem.
Hubby and I were able to come to a consensus though
Thank you all for your comments!
