I’m not the greatest fan of them, but that’s because they’re usually so generic. [name]Evie[/name]/[name]Lily[/name]/[name]Gracie[/name]/[name]Ellie[/name]/[name]Ella[/name] - [name]Ann[/name]/[name]May[/name]/[name]Ella[/name]/[name]Grace[/name]: Take your pick and make up about 90% of the hyphenated girls’ names I’ve encountered.
[name]One[/name] I’m rather fond of is [name]Anne[/name]-[name]Sophie[/name] - I encountered this in a French film and said in the French accent it’s lovely. Not so much in the English accent though.
I like them, I think they are sweet, but I am against nn as name. [name]Anne[/name]-[name]Sophie[/name] is ok, because [name]Sophie[/name] is legit name, but [name]Gracie[/name]-[name]May[/name] or [name]Annie[/name]-[name]Elise[/name] is just too much.
Names that sound ok - [name]Eva[/name]-[name]May[/name], [name]Lila[/name]-[name]Rose[/name], [name]Lucy[/name]-[name]Elyse[/name], [name]Clara[/name]-[name]May[/name], [name]Clara[/name]-[name]Elise[/name], [name]Elle[/name]-[name]Sophie[/name], [name]Linda[/name]-[name]May[/name]…
I like hyphenated names for girls, not so much for boys.
[name]Lily[/name]-[name]Anne[/name]
[name]Layla[/name]-[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Emma[/name]-[name]Louise[/name]
[name]Summer[/name]-[name]Louise[/name]
[name]Chloe[/name]-[name]Louise[/name]
[name]Ella[/name]-[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Lily[/name]-[name]Grace[/name]
[name]Anna[/name]-[name]Leigh[/name]
[name]Maisie[/name]-[name]Lynn[/name]
[name]Emmy[/name]-[name]Kaylee[/name]
[name]Emma[/name]-[name]Leigh[/name]/[name]Lee[/name]
[name]Sophie[/name]-[name]Grace[/name]
[name]Emily[/name]-[name]Grace[/name]
[name]Rosie[/name]-[name]Lynn[/name]
I’m not keen on hyphenated names, although I have been known to consider a few when we were having our sons. Our top names back then were [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Sophia[/name] and [name]Noa[/name]-[name]Sophia[/name]/[name]Noa[/name]-[name]Maya[/name] for a girl.
Hyphenated names can be OK - but often I find that people smack to completely random names together that doesn’t flow with or without a hyphen just because they can and that I do not like.
[name]One[/name] of my biggest hyphenated pet hates is the name [name]Heaven[/name]-[name]Leigh[/name] or [name]Heaven[/name]-[name]Lea[/name].
I like some hyphenated names, such as [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Kate[/name] or [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Sophia[/name].
Usually hyphenated names that I do not like are when the names just do not flow together or the names are too long. For example, I knew someone who went by [name]Gabriella[/name]-[name]Marie[/name]… and it flows well but it is just too long to be saying in an everyday conversation. Also, I do not like hyphenated names that are also a single name, such as [name]Kate[/name]-[name]Lynn[/name].
The only hyphenated name I like is [name]Sophie[/name]-[name]Anne[/name]. Otherwise I think it should be first & middle.
The only hyphenated name I really love is [name]Laura[/name]-[name]Juliet[/name]. I love how feminine it is but its not girly girly.
I know a [name]Marie[/name]-[name]France[/name] (she is french) and I really like it.
I love hyphenated names! My favorites are [name]Katy[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] (or spelled [name]Katie[/name]-[name]Jane[/name]) and [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Rosa[/name]. I also like [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Paulina[/name] and [name]Billie[/name]-[name]Rose[/name].
I don’t really like hyphenated names. But I do like [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Sophia[/name], maybe [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Kate[/name] but really I prefer not. Names like [name]Rosemarie[/name], [name]Rosemary[/name], [name]Marianne[/name], etc just seem better as one name.
[name]IMO[/name] hyphens are sssoooo 1980s around here lol! In fact, we considered hyphenating our son’s fn & first mn to make it a single, double barrel fn, but decided against it since it seemed dated. Many kids I went to school with had hyphenated names (many with [name]Marie[/name] for girls or [name]Joseph[/name] for boys) but I hadn’t heard any hyphenated names since then… Until good friends of ours had a baby girl 6 months ago and named her [name]Emma[/name]-[name]Rose[/name]. But that was something very specific to [name]Quebec[/name].
Hyphenated names are NMS, but if I had to choose then I would go with either:
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Patricia[/name] (nn [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Pat[/name])
[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Kate[/name]
[name]Anna[/name]-[name]Sophia[/name]
I have never met anyone with a hyphenated name that I’m aware of. I went to school with an [name]Anne[/name] [name]Marie[/name] but I’m 90% certain it was fn and mn and by h.s. she just went by [name]Anne[/name].
I’ve known an Annarose, [name]Jenny[/name] [name]Kate[/name] and [name]Mary[/name] [name]Katelyn[/name]. Of those, I like Annarose best.
yeah not my style either I dont hate them and wouldnt say oh yo have a hyphenated name or omg what have you done to that child!
But most people think i have hyphenated my kids names because i like to call them by 1st and middle name
I have at 1 point wished i had -'d my sons name [name]Bailey[/name]-[name]Ashton[/name] as that is all i call him, mostly cos of there being another bailey who when i call MY son always looks at me like im going to steal him cos im calling his name ( my son had it 1st lol) but now considering just calling him bash… Also they think Our daughter is -'d too cos i call her liberty-faith together… lol OOPS
I’m not a fan of them but I know a couple of people with them so I will add them.
[name]Kayleigh[/name]-[name]Anne[/name]
[name]Ellie[/name]-[name]May[/name]
[name]David[/name]-[name]John[/name]
[name]Robin[/name]-[name]James[/name]
[name]Kate[/name]-[name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Connor[/name]-[name]Donald[/name]
Some double barrelled names just don’t make any sense.
I have always loved [name]Anne[/name]-[name]Marie[/name] though and I wish that [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] wasn’t slang for marijuana.
I like [name]Bailey[/name]-[name]Rose[/name]. or [name]Rose[/name]-[name]Anne[/name]. These also work well in middle name spots I think
[name]Sophia[/name] [name]Bailey[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] or [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Bailey[/name]-[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Rose[/name]-[name]Anne[/name] or [name]Isla[/name] [name]Rose[/name]-[name]Anne[/name].
Best Wishes x
I’m not that keen on them personally, although I do have a soft spot for [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Rose[/name].
