I love all the nicknames for [name_m]William[/name_m], plus just [name_m]William[/name_m] alone! I also know a young Williem (spelled like that) who is called [name_m]Wim[/name_m], it suits him to a t!
I chose [name_m]Will[/name_m] and no nickname. I adore the name [name_m]William[/name_m], but sadly, few people seem to use the full form. They often go for [name_m]Liam[/name_m] or [name_u]Billy[/name_u], which are nice, but just take away from the name (it’s like using the stunning [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] but call her [name_u]Jay[/name_u] or [name_u]Jo[/name_u]). However, if a nickname has to be used, I like [name_m]Will[/name_m].
@elle-bea: [name_m]Wim[/name_m] is so cute! I can’t see the pet name lasting past childhood, but that is adorable
I know plenty of [name_m]Williams[/name_m] who go by [name_m]William[/name_m]. No nickname required.
I chose [name_m]Will[/name_m]. It may seem boring and popular, but really it’s a timeless, fun, kind, and smart nickname. [name_m]Will[/name_m] never goes out of style. You can’t go wrong with the nickname [name_m]Will[/name_m].
Of those choices listed, I would choose simply [name_m]Will[/name_m].
However, [name_m]Bill[/name_m]/[name_u]Billy[/name_u] is another option for [name_m]William[/name_m] if you like that idea?
[name_m]Wim[/name_m]'s very popular as a nn or full name in Belgium (though I agree it might sound a bit cutesy in English-speaking countries).
I like [name_m]Will[/name_m] and [name_m]Wills[/name_m]. I like [name_m]Wim[/name_m] as a previous poster mentioned.
I know so many guys named [name_m]Will[/name_m] or [name_m]Wil[/name_m] ([name_m]Wilson[/name_m]) and a lot of babies and toddlers named [name_m]Liam[/name_m] as well. I prefer less common names. I think it’s a lot better for the child in school and in life in general. If you must go with [name_m]William[/name_m], then I like [name_u]Billy[/name_u] as a nickname.
The little [name_m]William[/name_m] i know goes by [name_u]Billy[/name_u] and by his full name many times. I think my fave choice is [name_m]William[/name_m] with no nicknames.
I love [name_m]Liam[/name_m] and [name_m]Will[/name_m]! I might actually prefer [name_m]Liam[/name_m] to [name_m]William[/name_m] as a standalone name.
