I liked all three options, but I voted for [name]Josephine[/name] because: 1) I love [name]Annabelle[/name] and [name]Josephine[/name] together. 2) It’s nickname options are adorable, especially [name]Effie[/name]!
Any girl should be proud to wear any one of these names. Not knowing your surname, here are my ratings.
1 [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Mae[/name] - old world charm
2 [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Mae[/name] - classic and sweet
3 [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Mae[/name] - I don’t like the prospect of the nn [name]Ellie[/name] [name]Mae[/name] ([name]Beverly[/name] Hillbillies)
I voted for [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Mae[/name]. I love [name]Eleanor[/name] too, but like [name]Louisa[/name] better with [name]Mae[/name].
Oh [name]Mischa[/name], [name]Ellie[/name] [name]Mae[/name] would be awful. I struggle with [name]Mae[/name] sometimes because I get that vibe at times with it. However my grandma hated her first name of [name]Beulah[/name]. So I am trying to find a combo that doesn’t give off the [name]Beverly[/name] Hillbillies vibe!
It was a toss up between [name]Josephine[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name]. I went with [name]Eleanor[/name], as I think it sounds a bit better with [name]Mae[/name] in the middle.
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Mae[/name]! It sounds elegant. Also, if you use [name]Nora[/name] as a nn, [name]Nora[/name] [name]Mae[/name] would sound adorable. I’m a little biased though, as my own name is [name]Nora[/name].
With [name]Frederick[/name] [name]Charles[/name] I really like [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Mae[/name] followed by [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Mae[/name].
Tied with [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Josephine[/name], although maybe [name]Josephine[/name] wins because of the middle name.
I voted for [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Mae[/name] for the cute nn [name]Ellie[/name] [name]Mae[/name].
EDIT: I’ve never watched Beverly Hillbillies so I don’t make that association when I think of Ellie Mae.
I really like [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Mae[/name]- like @mischa said, it has an old world charm. [name]Josephine[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] are nice, but I don’t like them as much as [name]Louisa[/name] with [name]Annabelle[/name].
I voted for [name]Louisa[/name]. It isn’t in the top 1000 yet, and it needs to be! It feels fresher than [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Josephine[/name] as well.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Mae[/name]!! And I feel like [name]Annabelle[/name] and [name]Louisa[/name] were just meant to be sisters!! I’m familiar with the [name]Beverly[/name] Hillbillies, but unless you’re going to call her [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Mae[/name] all the time, I strongly believe it does not give off that vibe. [name]Even[/name] if you ARE going to call her [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Mae[/name] … I don’t know, I just don’t make that association.
I think they are all great! [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is so sweet and I love it with [name]Annabelle[/name], they just sound like they should be sisters! It doesn’t give me a beverly hillbillies vibe at all, it is classy and charming. [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is old school and pretty, but I do think of [name]Louisa[/name] [name]May[/name] [name]Alcott[/name] (not a bad association at all, though). I have always loved [name]Josephine[/name]. It sounds great with [name]Annabelle[/name], too (although I think I like [name]Eleanor[/name] with [name]Annabelle[/name] just a little more). [name]Josephine[/name] is sweet and sophisticated, with a number of spunky and cute nicknames. Honestly, you can’t really go wrong with any of them. I can’t wait to hear what you ultimately decide!
[name]Love[/name] [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Mae[/name]- so pretty and feminine. An adorable nn could be [name]Lula[/name]-[name]Mae[/name].
Never been a fan of [name]Josephine[/name] as it’s a male origin of [name]Joseph[/name] is too boyish to me.
I really dislike [name]Eleanor[/name], despite it’s popularity. All I hear is “Gnaw”.
I like [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Mae[/name] a lot, but it reminds me heavily of Lousia [name]May[/name] [name]Alcott[/name]. [name]Just[/name] making sure you were aware of that connection.
Thanks for all the votes and comments! It does help to “try out” names on here. For me [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is a double bonus of namesakes. [name]Both[/name] first and middle are family, as well as a nod to [name]Alcott[/name]. [name]Little[/name] Women was a favorite of mine growing up. If I could have had all literary reference children it would be:
[name]Louisa[/name] [name]May[/name] or any of the [name]March[/name] girls names, hence [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Frances[/name] ([name]Secret[/name] Garden)
[name]Milo[/name] [name]Norton[/name] (The Phantom Tollbooth)
[name]Peter[/name] [name]Edmund[/name] or [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Susan[/name] (from Chronicles of [name]Narnia[/name]).
They were the most influential books to me as I grew up, but I’m one for naming after family.
I went with [name]Josephine[/name]. I don’t like the sound of eleanor or the trendiness. Especially with the potential nn [name]Ellie[/name], which is cute in sound but way too overdone. [name]Louise[/name] and [name]Louisa[/name] sound fine for a lady who is 60+ but I cannot picture them on a little girl. This is kind of a harsh opinion and I’m not usually so blunt I will say that I adore [name]Josephine[/name] and I find it perfectly feminine and timeless!
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Mae[/name]! =D
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is absolutely fantastic, and just perfect with [name]Annabelle[/name] [name]Rose[/name].
