Best Scenario choice?

  • I’ve been tossing the idea around about names working well with their siblings. If I had three girls these are my choices. Tell me what you think - which of these would mesh the best? and has this concerned any of you or did just choose names because you just wanted them and not concern yourself with the flow with the rest of the family names? My family names didn’t flow, but they all connect in meaning to each other. So, I grew up not having every member in the family having the same flow, letter or even the same middle name. What do think, is it important?

1.) [name_f]Edwina[/name_f]-- nn [name_f]Edda[/name_f] or Wincy
2.) [name_f]Edith[/name_f] - nn. [name_f]Edie[/name_f]
3.) [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f] -nn. [name_f]Mira[/name_f]

-other option-

1.) [name_f]Edwina[/name_f]-- [name_f]Edda[/name_f] or Wincy
2.) [name_f]Luciana[/name_f] – nn. lucy
3.) [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f] - nn. [name_f]Mira[/name_f]

-another option-

1.) [name_f]Edwina[/name_f] -nn. [name_f]Edda[/name_f] or wincy
2.) [name_f]Doveva[/name_f]-nn. [name_f]Dova[/name_f]
3.) [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f]-nn. [name_f]Mira[/name_f]

-Last option-

1.) [name_f]Edwina[/name_f] - nn. [name_f]Edda[/name_f] or Wincy
2.) Drusilda --. Sildie
3.) [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f]- nn. [name_f]Mira[/name_f]

My favorite is [name_f]Edwina[/name_f], [name_f]Doveva[/name_f] and [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f]. Drusilda and [name_f]Luciana[/name_f] are nice, too.

My favourite sibset is definitely [name_f]Edwina[/name_f], Drusilda and [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f] - stunning!!

Generally though I don’t believe sibling names have to ‘match’, once you leave the nest, you have 50+ years of using your name without those of your siblings by its side. So long as names aren’t so bizarrely different as to promote sibling rivalry Xanthippe and [name_f]Jane[/name_f]? Perhaps not.

Oh my gosh, I would be so tempted to have Wink as a nn for [name_f]Edwina[/name_f]. I think your Wincy inspired that – though I do know a woman named Wink (her actual name is something eastern european that was always being mispronounced as Wink so she adopted that as her US name).

I think your second option works best. This avoids two “[name_m]Ed[/name_m]” names and I am loving the name [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f] while greatly preferring [name_f]Luciana[/name_f] to [name_f]Doveva[/name_f] or Drusilda.

I think I would avoid two names that start with “ed” unless they are far and away your top favorites. [name_f]Edwina[/name_f], [name_f]Luciana[/name_f] & [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f] mesh best as a set [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

I also prefer the [name_f]Luciana[/name_f] option.

I’m rather smitten with [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_f]Edwina[/name_f] (family names) and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], which makes for a set of sister all with E or [name_m]Ed[/name_m] beginning in their names. But that is why I suggested alternative names and Wincy for [name_f]Edwina[/name_f], to keep from having the same or similar nickname, but left [name_f]Edda[/name_f] as an option to show its availability. But I do like [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f] a lot, its a high contender but was uncertain how it paired with [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_f]Edwina[/name_f], which lead to other names that might sound well paired together with out ending up with all E lettered names.

My husband just thinks Drusilda (another family name) sounds evil, no matter what. I thought [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] was plane [name_f]Jane[/name_f] compared to [name_f]Mira[/name_f] and [name_f]Edda[/name_f] when considering nickname options. Wincy is darling but off kilter when compared to [name_f]Edie[/name_f] (ee-dee) and [name_f]Mira[/name_f], which those two sound lush and gorgeous, and wincy is cute, dainty, but child-like. So I thought I’d hit the forum, give no opinion, and see what your thoughts were.
