Spelling doesn’t really help the name become “less trendy”. The name IS trendy and it’s dated as well. If you must choose it, keep the spelling simple and that would be [name_f]Kailey[/name_f].
[name_f]Kayleigh[/name_f] is the spelling that I’ve seen most frequently. I had a friend in school named this, but haven’t seen it recently. Like [name_f]Kayla[/name_f], it was trending a few decades back.
Another vote for Kailey. I’ve seen this the most in the USA. Interesting that Kayleigh seems to be the prominent and “correct” spelling in UK. I guess it depends where you are!
But also vote [name_f]Kailey[/name_f] i actually tried to think of names to got with bailey and i came up with hailey and zailey lol but yeah defo i prefer this to the kayleigh version
[name_f]Kayleigh[/name_f] is the ‘most legitimate’ I guess.
I’m sort of a sucker for Ceilidh though - the original spelling of the word, but too much of a word in the UK. I’m not sure, do you guys have ceilidhs in the US? Never heard the word uttered in [name_f]Canada[/name_f]… I guess it would be okay, but the spelling is still an issue.
I’m biased, but my name is spelled “[name_f]Kaleigh[/name_f]” and I’ve always liked it. By dropping the Y, my mom wanted to prevent it being pronounced as two-names, “[name_u]Kay[/name_u] [pause] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u].” I also like that it’s unique but recognizable. I would definitely go for the English spelling of [name_u]Leigh[/name_u], though. I think it’s prettiest.
Haha I just asked my Canadian-raised cousin what she would call a gathering of people who do traditional dances to folk music and she looked at me like I was from some sort of magical-elf-world. They’re a regular occurrence in Northern [name_f]England[/name_f] but I promise it’s not that weird!
(She also replied ‘’…barn dance?‘’ which I found hilarious.)
