[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] are gorgeous together! I love [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] but my first association is [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] the Great (I love British history!). The only drawback with [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] is you already have an [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] so they would share initials. If you’re going to call him [name_m]Fred[/name_m] or [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], I don’t think the [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]'s of Hollywood store would an issue. [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m] doesn’t feel as strong to me as [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] but the name would go well with your children’s. I think of the saint before any TV character. There is also [name_m]Manfred[/name_m] but that may be too much.
1 [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
2 [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m]
3 [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]
I think with [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] sounds best. I love all three names a lot. I also like [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m], though not with the sib set. I don’t care for [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] that much.
Sorry, but all I can think is ‘why would you want to get to [name_m]Fred[/name_m]?’. I do find [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] to be adorable, so in that spirit…[name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m], [name_m]Fernando[/name_m], [name_m]Alfredo[/name_m], [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]?
I love [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] and would never have jumped to [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]'s of Hollywood.
[name_m]Wilfred[/name_m] and [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] are fine names (although [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] does make me think of Batman), but I chose [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] because even though YOU like [name_m]Fred[/name_m], it may be harder to avoid other nicknames like [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] or [name_m]Will[/name_m] (or Wilf?) when he gets older. If you want it to be only [name_m]Fred[/name_m], [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is your the best bet.
I like [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] best, but I associate it with the sensitive, adorable [name_m]Captain[/name_m] Wentworth of [name_u]Austen[/name_u] fame. I love him (and that book!), so [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is an easy yes for me. I think [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], and [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] work together really well. I have never really seen the appeal of [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m] (I think of the show straightaway), but I think [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] is cute for [name_u]Freddie[/name_u]/[name_m]Fred[/name_m]. I met a soldier once through work whose name was [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] nn [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], and I thought that was perfect. I feel like [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] goes better with [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] than [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], though.
Good luck!
I love [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m]! It gives better options for nn’s too if you like [name_m]Will[/name_m] it is ready made and if you like [name_m]Fred[/name_m] go for it, but [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is either [name_m]Fred[/name_m] or [name_m]Rick[/name_m] and I see the latter as being overlooked by many as a good nn, as for [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] I can only see [name_m]Alf[/name_m] for an [name_m]Alfred[/name_m].
rollo
Thanks for all the comments! Especially the one regarding the ever loyal (“I have loved none but you”) [name_m]Captain[/name_m] Wentworth! I had forgotten his name was [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]! That alone may sway me towards [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] now.
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] are brilliant together. I think [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] might be more the go-to nickname for [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], rather than [name_m]Fred[/name_m]/[name_u]Freddie[/name_u], so you’d have to be a bit more enforcing if you went with that option. Same with [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m] - [name_m]Will[/name_m] or Wilf - so if you want to ensure [name_m]Fred[/name_m] is the nickname rather than anything else then [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is probably your best option. I’ve never heard of the lingerie store or the TV show (though I think of Wilf from [name_m]Doctor[/name_m] Who) though it might be a US/UK divide thing.
