I tend to like quite old fashioned names with cute nicknames. [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] appears to be an exception to this. Both me and my OH really like [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] but my main issue with this is how common it it (I know it’s not super common but still a little more than I’d like it to be), this is a particular issue for me since recently a fairly close friend of ours used our chosen boys names (not just the first name, but full combo! No hard feelings as we definitely hadn’t claimed it or even mentioned it but it’s definitely made me consider how common our name choices are more) so I feel like I need to think out of the box a little more. I have an extremely uncommon first name and I like it that way so would quite like my children to as well.
So my actual question… could [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] be a nickname for [name_f]Bethany[/name_f]?
I know it’s usually a nickname for Elizabeth but this uncommon, sweet, vintage nickname appears to solve my Bethany problem (I don’t mind Beth, it’s just quite predictable, I have also considered Annie but OH doesn’t seem to be a big fan). What do you think? Could it work? If we have a boy he’ll likely be named Albert Hezekiah James, nn Albie so it would also be good to hear any opinions on how you feel Albie and Betsy/Albert and Bethany would go together as siblings in the future.
Thanks, Es!
