Betty?

I feel like [name_f]Betty[/name_f] is starting to grow on me. I’ve had [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] on my list for years now to honour a couple Elizabeths in my life, neither of whom ever actually went by [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. One of them, my great-grandmother, went by [name_f]Betty[/name_f] which after I’ve started seeing it popping up more and more has started to grow on me.

What do you think? Is [name_f]Betty[/name_f] workable for a modern kid or should I stick with [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]?

Absolutely workable! I think it’s sweet but not too sweet, with a peppy retro charm.

Eliza is more modern but I think [name_f]Betty[/name_f] could still work nowadays.

Betty is a retro cool name. It wouldn’t be the most conventional choice for a modern girl, but it absolutely works.

Are you planning on using it as a standalone or nn for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]?

Right now as a standalone, probably as a middle.

I think [name_f]Betty[/name_f] could work on a modern-day girl! The youngest [name_f]Betty[/name_f] I know (12 yrs) definitely wears her name well.

betty could certainly work! i know a 9 year old betty and it totally works on her

I prefer [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] but [name_f]Betty[/name_f] is bright and sweet

Betty is super sweet!
I think it’s workable, it’s kind of retro cool i think!

Betty is adorable and definitely usable imo. [name_u]Blake[/name_u] Lively and [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] [name_u]Reynolds[/name_u] named their youngest [name_f]Betty[/name_f] so I think it’s ready for revival.

Definitely can work as a stand-alone! I actually know a [name_f]Betty[/name_f] who is just [name_f]Betty[/name_f]. (She’s in high school)

I love [name_f]Betty[/name_f]! I completely agree with this description:

I think it would be a bit surprising on a baby nowadays, but in a good way.

I honestly think it’s about to have a resurgence. With [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] [name_m]Swift[/name_m]'s [name_f]Betty[/name_f] and the youngest [name_u]Blake[/name_u] Lively and [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] [name_u]Reynolds[/name_u] baby, it’s creeping back onto a lot of people’s radars at the moment :eyes:

Betty is 100% workable and I’ve met a few little Bettys here in [name_f]England[/name_f] (standalone Bettys not Elizabeths) who wear it well. I personally think it’s so much more interesting and cool than [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] whilst still being classic. Top tier name.

Betty is so sweet, I love retro names like this! I much prefer it to [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] honestly. It feels much softer to me. I think [name_f]Betty[/name_f] is completely workable for nowadays. With [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] [name_m]Swift[/name_m]’s song [name_f]Betty[/name_f] and [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] [name_u]Reynolds[/name_u] and [name_u]Blake[/name_u] Lively naming their youngest [name_f]Betty[/name_f] recently, I feel it will have no trouble being loved today!

I’ve heard of a few baby [name_f]Betty[/name_f]’s and [name_f]Betsy[/name_f]’s recently here in [name_f]England[/name_f]!! I think it has a lovely vintage, 1920’s feel to it. It’s cute and nicknamey but strong and useable as a standalone too! also as @katinka says, I think [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], [name_u]Blake[/name_u] and [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] have made it more fashionable!

I personally think [name_f]Betty[/name_f] is so underrated, and seems to be disliked by people because of its “cartoony” association. It’s retro but also fresh, and I think both [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Betty[/name_f] would work in a modern world!

[name_f]Betty[/name_f] is totally due for a comeback. I personally prefer it to [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] as well.

I like [name_f]Betty[/name_f] in general, If you’re worried about it looking too simple go with [name_f]Bette[/name_f] instead…it worked for [name_f]Bette[/name_f] [name_u]Davis[/name_u] and don’t we all wish to have some of her vim.

I much prefer [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. Both of my grandmothers are named [name_f]Betty[/name_f] so it’s very old lady to me :grimacing: but then there’s also [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] Swifts song
