Between two boy names: Corbett vs Lane

Hoping to get quick opinions on the two boy names we are in between:

#1 - [name]Corbett[/name]
We like this because it has a special meaning that only those close to us would know. My husband and I met in the college; the name of our dorm was [name]Corbett[/name] [name]Hall[/name]

#2 - [name]Lane[/name]
[name]Love[/name] that there are some very masculine [name]Lane[/name]'s out there but still has a “sensitive” side.

If you hate them both, please refrain from rude comments. [name]Just[/name] wanted to get an outsiders perspective.

While I love [name]Lane[/name] much more than [name]Corbett[/name] (it’s a Great name for a boy) I love the personal connection between [name]Corbett[/name] and you and your husband, so I choose [name]Corbett[/name]. Personal significance should win every time :slight_smile:

I love the story about [name]Corbett[/name], but I prefer [name]Lane[/name] and I identify with your reasons for liking the name. Are you saving both names for future first names? If not, I like [name]Lane[/name] [name]Corbett[/name]!

[name]How[/name] are you pronouncing [name]Corbett[/name]? Kind of like corbit one fast word or corr bette sort of like corvette? I like the significance, my husband and I met in [name]Graham[/name] [name]Hall[/name] so I really want to use [name]Graham[/name]!

I love the name [name]Lane[/name] but [name]Corbett[/name] has a great story behind it. Their both good choices.

I, too, am in line with your other commenters. [name]Lane[/name] would be my favourite (even maybe a future choice) but I love names with meanings.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone! I think we’re leaning towards [name]Corbett[/name]! Middle name will likely be [name]Thomas[/name] as it is a family name.

While I do prefer the name of [name]Lane[/name], I think you should use [name]Corbett[/name] because of its special meaning. [name]Corbett[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] is lovely!

I like both–personally prefer [name]Lane[/name] (especially with the mn [name]Thomas[/name]! [name]Lane[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] is so handsome)–but with the significance of [name]Corbett[/name], I’m more inclined to vote for that. [name]Corbett[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] is really handsome, and it sounds like such a special name to you.

I prefer [name]Corbett[/name] myself. (It is my son’s middle name, his father’s mn, and my son’s great grandfather’s first name.) I had never heard it of it before until I met my husband. [name]Corbett[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] sounds great!
