[name]Hi[/name] everyone - my husband and I are expecting a little girl this fall, and love the name [name]Bianca[/name]. However, our last name is Fair, and my only hesitation is the meaning of the name, since [name]Bianca[/name] means “white.” With Fair as the last name it seems weird, but I might be over thinking this, because who really tracks a name meaning? Any thoughts?
I think most people know what bianco/bianca means in Italian, but I say… go for it. [name]Bianca[/name] Fair has a such sweet, cheerful and unexpected feel and I fell in love instantly.
I think it’s fine. It’s not like White Fair has a terrible mean—Ohhh you mean like white + fairskinned? haha. missed that. Hmm. I supposed I could imagine the occasional “are your parents white supremacists?” comment from a teasing friend. I’d bet those comments would be very few and far between though. I think [name]Bianca[/name] Fair is pretty enough to outweigh that risk!
I think its fine. Not everyone knows the meaning of names anyway. And I’m sure there are millions of people named “[name]Jennifer[/name] White” which is kind of a redundant name.
[name]Bianca[/name] Fair is a memorable, charming combination. I really like it! I can’t see it causing too much trouble–my name means “white,” and no one ever comments on the meaning.
Another person saying go for it! No one really mentions meaning of names too much. I can honestly say with all the students I have had in my ten years of teaching I have never once thought of their name meaning. If [name]Bianca[/name] Fair was on my roster I would only think about how her first name sounds so beautiful with her last name.
I think [name]Bianca[/name] [name]Black[/name] would be kind of silly, but [name]Bianca[/name] Fair is fine. And I highly doubt anyone would think you were white supremacists over your baby’s name unless you name your child [name]Aryanne[/name] or [name]Adolph[/name] or something.
