Biblical Girl Name?

I have really taken a liking to Naameh!

I wanna hear your suggestions with pronunciation and your general thoughts on the name.
I have googled a lot, and I found nothing about it as a first name. I really like it though.

Any thoughts about nicknames, whether or not you like it or not. Spill the beans

It’s not a word/name I’ve ever heard of and I think the spelling would confuse people, but would say NAY-ah-muh?

It’s quite pretty. But I have a serious love for [name_f]Naiara[/name_f]/[name_f]Nayara[/name_f] which sound similar so that’s probably why.

Apparently Naameh is the name of an Iranian village. Very ethnic sounding. I’d say if you’re not of Iranian/Persian descent that I wouldn’t use it.

I don’t see what it has to do with the Bible aside from a movie using the name for [name_u]Noah[/name_u]'s wife.

[name_f]Naamah[/name_f] is used in the Bible, though very obscurely (the mother of an ancient king). I’d pronounce it nay-[name_m]AH[/name_m]-muh, though I have no idea if that’s right. And no one else would either! It would be constantly mispronounced and misspelled (no matter how you decide to spell/pronounce it)
Can’t say that I find it very appealing, visually or sound-wise.

I love [name_f]Naamah[/name_f]/Naameh (I prefer it with 3 As)! I think it would be hard for people to ‘get’ the pronunciation at first but that is a quick and easy fix most of the time. I think that it’s too beautiful too pass up simply because of it’s spelling. It deserves to have a little love. The only other thing I think you should know (in case you are not aware), that might be a negative connection is with the [name_f]Naamah[/name_f] spelling I believe there is a demon (similar to [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] in nature I believe) with the name (not well known though so it shouldn’t be a huge deal if it doesn’t personally bother you). However there is good to it as well! From looking on Wikipedia it looks like a wife of [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] was named [name_f]Naamah[/name_f]. I’ll give you some links to check out if you are interested.

Naamah (Genesis) - Wikipedia ([name_m]Even[/name_m] mentioned here as possibly wife of [name_u]Noah[/name_u])

Overall I love [name_f]Naamah[/name_f]/Naameh. It’s ancient, biblical, strong yet soft. Nicknames are hard (as I don’t believe it’s really necessary with this name) but one I can think of off the top of my head is [name_f]Ama[/name_f] (maybe even [name_f]Amy[/name_f]).

I would pronounce Naameh as nah-ah-MEH, with first two syllables short, almost becoming one, and [name_f]Naamah[/name_f] as nah-ah-MAH, same thing with the first two syllables. I have no idea if that is correct, just my assumption.

I agree with others that it would be difficult to pull off if you are not of Iranian/Persian decent and you are likely to run into many pronunciation/spelling problems.

Naameh – Nay-[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-Meh
[name_f]Naamah[/name_f] – Nay-[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-Muh

This is how I’d pronounce these two names. I think you’d find people saying Nah-meh or Nah-ma a bit though, just because they wouldn’t know what to do with the double ‘a’.

I think it’s incredibly pretty when pronounced Nay-ah-muh and less so the other way. With Nay-ah-meh sounding close to [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], she’d probably be called that a lot simply because people’s ears will pick up on what’s familiar and leave out what’s not. Since it looks like it can be spelled either way, I’d encourage [name_f]Naamah[/name_f] over Naameh.

I wouldn’t use a nickname, but [name_f]Ama[/name_f] is the only one I can see as being worth a go.

P.S. What about Nayama? I think she was a star wars character. Still prefer [name_f]Naamah[/name_f] sp.

Wow, you are so right about [name_f]Naiara[/name_f]/[name_f]Nayara[/name_f] very beautiful names!

Thank you! I can see that you share my interest and the allure of this name  Thanks for the links, yeah I read about the demon thing too. But as I can see that is not the only way it is used. I like names that don’t give you an immediate need to come up with a nickname.

I like your take on the way to pronounce it, much like what I had in mind.

I really like these ways to pronounce it as well. I do see the resemblance to [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], and that would really be to bad. Thanks!
