I wanna hear your suggestions with pronunciation and your general thoughts on the name.
I have googled a lot, and I found nothing about it as a first name. I really like it though.
Any thoughts about nicknames, whether or not you like it or not. Spill the beans
Apparently Naameh is the name of an Iranian village. Very ethnic sounding. Iâd say if youâre not of Iranian/Persian descent that I wouldnât use it.
I donât see what it has to do with the Bible aside from a movie using the name for [name_u]Noah[/name_u]'s wife.
[name_f]Naamah[/name_f] is used in the Bible, though very obscurely (the mother of an ancient king). Iâd pronounce it nay-[name_m]AH[/name_m]-muh, though I have no idea if thatâs right. And no one else would either! It would be constantly mispronounced and misspelled (no matter how you decide to spell/pronounce it)
Canât say that I find it very appealing, visually or sound-wise.
I love [name_f]Naamah[/name_f]/Naameh (I prefer it with 3 As)! I think it would be hard for people to âgetâ the pronunciation at first but that is a quick and easy fix most of the time. I think that itâs too beautiful too pass up simply because of itâs spelling. It deserves to have a little love. The only other thing I think you should know (in case you are not aware), that might be a negative connection is with the [name_f]Naamah[/name_f] spelling I believe there is a demon (similar to [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] in nature I believe) with the name (not well known though so it shouldnât be a huge deal if it doesnât personally bother you). However there is good to it as well! From looking on Wikipedia it looks like a wife of [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] was named [name_f]Naamah[/name_f]. Iâll give you some links to check out if you are interested.
Overall I love [name_f]Naamah[/name_f]/Naameh. Itâs ancient, biblical, strong yet soft. Nicknames are hard (as I donât believe itâs really necessary with this name) but one I can think of off the top of my head is [name_f]Ama[/name_f] (maybe even [name_f]Amy[/name_f]).
I would pronounce Naameh as nah-ah-MEH, with first two syllables short, almost becoming one, and [name_f]Naamah[/name_f] as nah-ah-MAH, same thing with the first two syllables. I have no idea if that is correct, just my assumption.
I agree with others that it would be difficult to pull off if you are not of Iranian/Persian decent and you are likely to run into many pronunciation/spelling problems.
This is how Iâd pronounce these two names. I think youâd find people saying Nah-meh or Nah-ma a bit though, just because they wouldnât know what to do with the double âaâ.
I think itâs incredibly pretty when pronounced Nay-ah-muh and less so the other way. With Nay-ah-meh sounding close to [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], sheâd probably be called that a lot simply because peopleâs ears will pick up on whatâs familiar and leave out whatâs not. Since it looks like it can be spelled either way, Iâd encourage [name_f]Naamah[/name_f] over Naameh.
I wouldnât use a nickname, but [name_f]Ama[/name_f] is the only one I can see as being worth a go.
Thank you! I can see that you share my interest and the allure of this name Thanks for the links, yeah I read about the demon thing too. But as I can see that is not the only way it is used. I like names that donât give you an immediate need to come up with a nickname.
