Hey, I don’t know if this has been talked about before but I was looking at this article about this family with 15 children all with C names, they are called [name_m]Carlos[/name_m] [name_m]Jr[/name_m], [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], [name_f]Carla[/name_f], [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f], [name_m]Cristian[/name_m], [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], [name_f]Cristina[/name_f], [name_m]Calvin[/name_m], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], [name_f]Carol[/name_f], [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Camilla[/name_f], [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Crystal[/name_f]. I have nothing against big families or siblings who share the same initial but isn’t this just too similar? I would be so confused with names so alike, for example, three have names shortened to [name_u]Chris[/name_u]. There is also a lot of C names like [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f], [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_m]Colin[/name_m], [name_u]Connor[/name_u], [name_u]Carter[/name_u], [name_u]Cooper[/name_u], [name_u]Chase[/name_u], etc.
What are your opinions on their names together as siblings? I personally find it too similar and too confusing.
I probably wouldn’t have a [name_f]Carol[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] or [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] and [name_f]Cristina[/name_f]
I agree with you, way too similar. A [name_m]Carlos[/name_m], [name_f]Carla[/name_f], [name_f]Carol[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is too much and a [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], [name_m]Cristian[/name_m], [name_f]Cristina[/name_f] and [name_f]Crystal[/name_f] sound too alike. [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] are pretty much the same name so I don’t like that but at least they kind of sound different. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] has the same meaning as [name_m]Carlos[/name_m], [name_f]Carla[/name_f], [name_f]Carol[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] but at least they sound different. [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] and [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] also sound really alike but not too bad. [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] and [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] are the only names that are different out of the other siblings. I do also agree bout the confusion.
I think they should have done something more like [name_m]Carlos[/name_m] [name_m]Jr[/name_m], [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_u]Connor[/name_u], [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_m]Calvin[/name_m], [name_u]Courtney[/name_u], [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Camilla[/name_f], [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] and [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]. So everyone has their own name and identity whilst still keeping the same first initial.
Most of those names are really not my style but they are also quite similar. I knew a family of 3 girls and 1 boy, and the girls were Chr!stine, C0urtney, and Katr!na, and their mom was always getting them mixed up! (It wasn’t planned that way. Chr!stine was the oldest and the other three were triplets so their mom named C0urtney, their dad named the boy, and Chr!stine named Katr!na).
When I saw the article, I thought the exact same thing. I assume [name_f]Carla[/name_f] is directly named after the father like [name_m]Carlos[/name_m] [name_m]Jr[/name_m]. so I don’t consider it too strange that it’s so close to [name_m]Carlos[/name_m]. But I do find it strange that the other names are so similar. If they’re named in honour of different people or if they all go by nicknames that are distinct from each other then I suppose it’s not so odd. But I definitely wouldn’t be able to give my kids names that are so similar, even if they do go by distinct nicknames.
I think similar letters is fine, but any letter is hard to stretch to 15 unique names. I would pick 2-3 letters that I like and rotate them. Or find names that have “c”'s in them, but not necessarily the first letter.
