I love the nickname [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], but I’m just not keen on names generally thought of as nicknames as proper first names. [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] seems like one of those that can kind of work as a nickname for a wide variety of names. From what I can tell, it’s been used as a nickname for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f], [name_f]Bridget[/name_f], [name_f]Bernice[/name_f], [name_f]Alberta[/name_f], etc.
My question is, do you think it works as a nickname for [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]? [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nickname [name_f]Bee[/name_f]/[name_f]Bea[/name_f] for [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], but wondering if I could stretch it out and potentially make [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] work? Thinking because it has a “b” in it and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is a type of bird… it could work? Thoughts?
I think it could absolutely work! A lot of people have nicknames that are related to their first in a manner that isn’t terribly obvious, and some people have nicknames that aren’t related at all! I like the connection between [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], and I don’t think its too much of a stretch.
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f] is the kind of pet name that doesn’t really have to be connected to the given name at all, I think. It’s just a sweet term of endearment. You can definitely use it for your [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].
I feel like [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] is one of the pet nicknames that could literally work for any name with a B in it. Or any name at all, really. My daughter has a friend who everyone calls [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] (literally 100% of the time). I thought it was a real name but her real name is [name_f]Erin[/name_f], the nickname just stuck.
